Introduction of State of Art
in the Cloud Computing Solutions
Cloud computing is the on demand
computer system resources accessibility, particularly computing power and data
storage, without user direct active management. The cloud computing is usually known
as the data centers available over the Internet to be used by many users. There
are many of the platforms of the cloud computing are there that are discussed,
evaluate and compare in this paper. The major solution of the cloud computing are
Backspace Cloud, IBM Cloud, Google Cloud that are evaluated. The foundations of
cloud computing are: application outsourcing and on-demand payment. The
outsourcing of applications imposes a new technological model. The application
is no longer running on the user machine, but hosted on a remote hosted server (Wang, Ranjan,
Chen, & Benatallah, 2011).
It is therefore necessary that
the customer has an internet connection to be able to use the application. In cloud
computing model, the software publisher is no longer responsible for simply
selling the application, but must also host it. Depending on the number of
customers, the software publisher must maintain a hardware infrastructure
allowing to properly executing the application. This infrastructure may
therefore include a few servers to several thousand. In addition to these
controls the data center must have redundant equipment to high availability of
its infrastructure (multiple power supplies, air conditioning, network etc.),
resulting in very high construction and maintenance costs (Wang, Ranjan,
Chen, & Benatallah, 2011).
Use of Cloud Computing Platforms of State of Art in the Cloud Computing Solutions
The use of cloud computing is
accelerated at very high speeds to make the lives of the people more
connected and inter-related with each
other and could computing platforms also increase the innovation of products.
So, there is a risk of turning the lives of people into nothing but chaos if
such multi-purpose devices are not designed carefully. Some of its applications
have a very sensitive infrastructure like the smart facility and grid
protection. Other applications generate very personal information. That is why
it is important to focus on the security. A model that is used for the
on-demand entrance to an interlinked network of configurable resources like the
servers or software is known as cloud computing. The shared network is capable
of provisioning (SaaS) Software as a Service or (IaaS) Infrastructure as a
Service (Wang, Ranjan, Chen, &
Benatallah, 2011).
For the future technologies, the
use of cloud computing is gaining the attention of vast industries. There are
three cloud computing platforms are represented in this article that are
important for the deployment of efficient services and products. Moreover,
three categories of cloud computing platforms are discussed for the enhancement
of customer value along with the challenges. The Cloud computing is likely to augment velocity and agility and
make sure that resources are accessible to the developers (Chandrashekhar, Ahmed, & Rahul, 2015)
It is an advanced technology
platform with the global network of devices empowered to interact and connect
with each other. For the enterprises, when the clouding computing used with the
in which the interlinked devices and machines are able to integrate with the
inventory systems that are managed by vendors along with other systems like the
business intelligence applications and customer support systems.
For evaluating the role of cloud computing in different fields
of business, there is also a need to monitor the environmental and
physical conditions, sensor-equipped devices that are spatially distributed are
included in WSN. As in the cloud computing use in the IoT they can cooperate
with the systems of RFID for the better tracking of things’ status. For example,
the movements, temperature, and the location as well. Initially, WSN were utilized in the cold chain logistics. Even in
the tracking systems and maintenance, they have a role.
Backspace Cloud of State of Art in the Cloud Computing Solutions
Backspace Cloud is the cloud
computing service provided by the corporation Rackspace. The Rackspace cloud
provide all those services which the other cloud service providers provide such
as cloud storage and web application hosting. However, Rackspace cloud does not
have as much features as the google cloud has for instance automatic scaling
and easy formation of applications. Rackspace Cloud has managed to gain
popularity however the market share of Rackspace is not as much as the IBM
& Google. Rackspace have the opportunity to enhance its market share by gaining
significant competitive edge.
IBM cloud of State of Art in the Cloud Computing Solutions
IBM cloud was formerly known as
IM SoftLayer & Bluemix. IBM cloud is actually a suite of services provided
by the IBM Corporation. The suite offers both IaaS & PaaS services. Through
cloud IaaS the organizations can use various services which include networking,
storage and pouting power virtually. PaaS on the other hand is an open source
platform. The IBM cloud suite support different languages which include Python,
Node.js and Java. IBM cloud providers various services to the clients some of
the key services include network services, computing services, security, analytics
and artificial intelligence (Roman, Zhou, & Lopez, 2013).
IBM over the years have grab
significant market share of the cloud computing infrastructure. IBM has taken
8% of the cloud infrastructure. Other
organizations such as Amazon have larger share than IBM. Today many organizations
utilize the services provided by the cloud services providers. Through this not
only they able to manage their costs more efficiently but also their
productivity and efficiency enhances up to lot of extent. Due to the various
products of IBM cloud the IBM cloud has manage to grab the attention of
significant amount of customers. In the future it can be said that the IBM
cloud with the help of research & development will further innovate its
existing products (Gill, 2010).
Google Cloud of State of Art
in the Cloud Computing Solutions
Google cloud provides various
services to its users. Through google cloud there is no need for server
management. The clients can deploy its code and the google will scale it for
them. The clients can store the information as well through google cloud.
Google cloud is actually a public cloud computing platform. The key services
which google cloud offers include software development, administration and
application development services. In short through google cloud the users can
perform their activities more efficiently and within less period of time (Buyya, 2013).

In the above figure the revenue
run rate of various cloud services can be seen. It can be seen that The IBM
cloud have generated $10.3 billion annual run rate whereas Google cloud has
generated only $4 billion. It means that in terms of revenue IBM is ahead of
the Google cloud. Although most of the organization or business have preferred
Google cloud in recent years but the revenue of the IBM is much more than the
Google cloud. However Google cloud have the opportunity to expand its revenue
through attracting more customers in near future (Roman, Zhou,

In the above figure the adoption
of the cloud computing platform can be seen. The IBM cloud in the year 2018 is
adopted by approximately 15% of the corporations. IBM cloud as discussed
earlier have provided variety of options to the clients with suitable payment
options which is the reason of success for the IBM. On the other hand the
google cloud is being adopted by approximately 19% of the corporations. Due to
variety of options and good pricing strategy of the corporation google cloud
has manage to attract variety of customers. However there are some other cloud
platform as well who are performing much better than Google Cloud & IBM
Cloud.

The above table is explaining how
the various cloud computing platform are being adopted by different
individuals. In the beginners Google cloud is more popular than the IBM cloud.
According to the 2018 statistics 18% of the beginners have chosen Google cloud
where as IBM cloud has chosen by only 14% of the individuals. The cloud
computing platforms have the opportunity to grow in the upcoming years through
continuous improvement and up gradation in the technology. With new features
different organization who provide these services can gain competitive edge
over the competitors (Wang, Ranjan, Chen, &
Benatallah, 2011).
In recent years the cloud
computing services have gain immense importance because they not only allow
corporations to increase their efficiency but also allow them to manage their
operations effectively. Today the corporations want to gain competitive edge
over their competitors so that not only their profit can increase but also they
can sustain in the long run. It means that the demand of the cloud services
will significantly rise in the future. In terms of services & pricing
Google Cloud has gain more popularity and recommended by many clients whom have
used its services. IBM cloud services are second to Google Cloud services (Wang, Ranjan, Chen, & Benatallah, 2011).
If all the above discussion is
summarized than it is evident that the IBM cloud have generated $10.3 billion
annual run rate whereas Google cloud has generated only $4 billion. It means
that in terms of revenue IBM is ahead of the Google cloud. Although most of the
organization or business have preferred Google cloud in recent years but the
revenue of the IBM is much more than the Google cloud. However Google cloud
have the opportunity to expand its revenue through attracting more customers in
near future. In recent years the cloud computing services have gain immense
importance because they not only allow corporations to increase their
efficiency but also allow them to manage their operations effectively. Today
the corporations want to gain competitive edge over their competitors so that
not only their profit can increase but also they can sustain in the long run (Chandrashekhar, Ahmed, & Rahul, 2015).
In the Cloud computing the data centers
today are built based on an over provisioned model to host a huge number and
diverse cloud applications with different compute demands and performance
requirements. As a result all the additional resources required to handle
workload that is at peak, are required only for a short period of time, the
problem is when peak load is completed, most of the provisioned resources run
at only 5 to 10 percent utilization leading to unnecessary cost, power
consumption as well as cooling (Chandrashekhar, Ahmed, &
Rahul, 2015).
Thus, data centers are generally
over-sized to ensure the quality of data hosted applications service. A study
done by Google on one of their centers data set, consisting of 5,000 servers,
describes the average CPU usage rate of most servers vary between 10% and 50% .From
an energy point of view, this under utilization leads to very significant energy
loss both at server level as well as at the entire data center level.
Conclusion on State of Art in the Cloud Computing Solutions
Summing up the discussion about
the cloud computing the comparison between its different solutions, it can be
said that the outsourcing of applications imposes a new technological model.
The application is no longer running on the user machine, but hosted on a
remote hosted server. The Backspace cloud provide all those services which the
other cloud service providers provide such as cloud storage and web application
