        During this lab the objective of the lab is to initiate the students with the function of the generator with the AC measurements along with DMM and measure the dynamic response by using the Virtual Oscilloscope. And Purpose is to introduce  the significant perceptive of an AC Signal operation along with the description , on the behalf of  the displaying of a changing signal use the function generator along with the Oscilloscope.

      And the introduction of this lab experiment is about the Function generator and the oscilloscope.  There are two measurement’s equipment are used, one is the Oscilloscope and the other is a Function Generator. A piece of electronic test equipment is usually well-known as function generator otherwise different types of electrical waves are produced in the software with a frequency at higher amount. Following different types of waves are generating like sine, square, triangular as well as saw tooth shapes. It will take time to master its entire feature oscilloscope is a sophisticated instrument. In this lab we can learn only basic features. The following basic feature is described below.Function generator, 2 BNC cables to  2 Alligator cables , 1 BNC to BNC Coaxial cables, 51Ω resistor  , a DMM( Digital Multimeter , along with the alligator clip leads on the behalf of the  DMM. Basically the oscilloscope is the basic instrument for the dynamic measurements. It may be used for the different purpose, and also observing signal of voltage during the amplitude from a fraction of millivolt (1 ) volts is used.


Procedure of Measurement response to Time varying Waveform

            The first step is we have to connect the BNC-alligator clip coaxial cable with oscilloscope and function generator. Connect this together. We have to remember the importance of grounded Shield and the center conductor carrying the signal. All the coaxial cable are Connected together. In this circuit we didn’t use the resistance of 51 ohm. As you see in below figure.


From above figure examine a trace line of the Display that looks like a Sine Wave, its appearance like the “Furry.

Calculate the theoretical value of Vac below the flowing conditions

Data investigation of Measurement response to Time varying Waveform

Display function generator is =2Vpp

Frequency = 1,000,000,0KHz

Vrms= 0.707V

Vrms= Vpp= *2= 0.707V

VAC= 6.92mV

Compare Vrms and the VAC ,

because value is  very small about 102.4

 time period of waveform

Frequency = 1004 Hz = 1.004 KHz.

The Agilent Oscilloscope is used to set the factory default values .where as the Function generator is used to generate a triangular waveform as up to the amplitude of 2V along the frequency of the 10 KHz. And this wave is present on the oscilloscope; calculate its positive and the negative voltage.

For the calculation of the T2 in the Sync waveform, the Quick mass is obtain the value of the frequency of the Sync waveform,

VMax = 2.109

V2min = -0.008V

                                 F2= 1.00KHz                                         

 The height of the AC Waveform is the peak amplitude which is shown in the figure 2, in the direction of the Oscilloscope at the positive highest, as well as the negative lowest point on graph. And the peak to peak amplitude is the Total height of the AC waveform which is measured as the maximum and the minimum negative peaks of graphs.

Discussion of Measurement response to Time varying Waveform   

After the Completion of this lab experiment, the function generator and the Oscilloscope perform the accurate working. Like the varying waveform are shown on the oscilloscope. And there is no difference between the Theoretical and the measured values as you can check in a table which is shown in the procedure.

The Conclusion of the lab experiment we learn that, how the varying waveform are display after the use of the Oscilloscope and the function generator. And also get the knowledge about the control of these equipments. In this lab understand the concept of the Ac waveform.
