The SNHU University offers many programs
related to information technology field such as BS in computer information
technology, BA in computer information technology, BS in computer science, BS
in Game programming & development, and MS in information technology. All of
these programs are further required with different set of courses for students
to complete their relevant IT program with required credit hours.. For
instance, at SNHU the major program of BS in Information Technology comes with
so many courses including Foundation in Application Development, Computer
Platform Technologies, Database Design & Management, Network & Telecommunication
Management, and Information Technology Strategy & Management. The above
mentioned courses are campus based courses, but the good thing is that SNHU
also offers various online courses in information technology field. Each course
is unique in its own way to equip students with lots of knowledge and skills. In
this paper, some of these courses will be compared with the IT courses being
studies in Kent State University to see that how both universities are handling
the courses in information technology field.
Course Sequence of The
Comparison in Southern New Hampshire University and Kent State University
The
sequence of the courses in the university is also very good for each specific
field. The above mentioned courses are from the BS in information technology,
and here is the proper sequence of these courses in SNHU:
Foundation in Application Development, Computer Platform
Technologies, Database Design & Management, Network & Telecommunication
Management, and Information Technology Strategy & Management. All of these
courses account for total credit hours of 120.
Appropriateness of courses
and electives The Comparison in Southern New Hampshire University and Kent
State University
All of the courses offered by Southern New Hampshire University have
appropriateness in terms of sequence and electives. The university provides mid
level undergraduate courses, and then higher level courses of Masters Level, which
shows that they have appropriate number of courses in a proper sequence for the
students. I think that the university is not likely to provide the students
with the wide option for the elective subject that is also likely to make the student
quite a restricted about the selection of the course that the student is going
to elect. But still, it is important to mention that university does give options
of electives in few courses like in Computer Information Technology (BS), the
SNHU provides electives courses in digital commerce, global IT management,
systems security, and 3D modeling.
Multiple tracks for
students The Comparison in Southern New Hampshire University and Kent State
University
There are different kinds of the courses that
the Southern New Hampshire University is
likely to offer to the students. In the entire program of the study, there are
also said to be different tracks from which the students can choose any of the
track of its choice. It completely depends on the students what track the
student is likely to choose to complete a specific degree. I think the method
that the Southern New Hampshire
University has given to complete any degree that it offers is
likely to make a lot of sense for the student and depending on the abilities of
the students the company provides the student with particular courses.
The program has multiple tracks for the
students as after the completion of the degree programs students can apply in
various fields of education and working position. They can also start their
masters in the computer sciences and masters in information technology field.
Computer information technology course covers the courses that are also taught
in the information technology courses therefore after getting the degree in
this course students can apply for masters in information technology course.
Comparison with Kent
State University Courses the Comparison in Southern New Hampshire University
and Kent State University
When the courses of the Southern New Hampshire University are
compared with the Kent State CIS-B.B.A program, I think that the Kent State
University is likely to provide the
wide range of courses in information technology as compared with the courses of
Southern New Hampshire University. So the Kent State CIS program is
likely to provide a wide range of option for the students who are willing to do
the degree in computer information systems as compared with the Southern New Hampshire University. When BS in
computer information technology of SNHU is compared with B.B.A in computer
information systems of Kent State University, it is evident that both programs
do allow selecting some electives. But the good thing about Kent State
University course is that it is equipped with more variety and it is the one,
which can help students to get wide range of knowledge regarding the subject. The
number of courses for Kent State program is seven including Web programming,
Systems analysis & design, Database management systems, and Software
integration etc, whereas SNHU program offered six courses. The other major
difference is that Kent State courses allow selecting various major electives
like Enterprise Systems & Business Processes, Network Theory & Application,
Information Systems Management, and Special Topics in Information Systems etc. But
overall, courses from both university programs are good enough for students to
learn as much as they can.
Internships Programs The
Comparison in Southern New Hampshire University and Kent State University
The Southern
New Hampshire University program is also likely to provide the students with
the internships for the real word experience for them and provide them more of
the chances to explore their internal capabilities in a professional
environment. University administration manages the internship program for
students. It has been observed that students doing BS in Computer Information
Technology has been able to get internships in renowned companies like SCD
Solutions and Fidelity Investments. Same goes for the Kent State University as
well. The B.B.A in CIS program of Kent State University allows students to
avail summer and other kind of paid internships in the relevant industry, which
helps them to apply their study knowledge in the practical field.
