In
the year 2014, I started my job as an HR manager in a well-reputed organization.
During my first few days, I got the training about the employee’s management in
the organization that was the part of my work in the organization. The job of
the HR gave me a lot the confidence to work more efficiently? This included
working with experienced professionals for a few weeks. The administration of
the organization had to watch my progress and give feedback to the manager.
This was very challenging and terrifying situation for me to monitored by the
professional and doing job with no experience. In this job, I have to do a lot
of HR work including the employee’s
relationship, productivity management, hiring employees, customers complain, conflict
management etc solely because I have to prove that I was competent to do the
role.
The
job was very hard for me because previously I have no experience of HR work.
The entire work experience was completely new and challenging. In the very
beginning of the job, I feel no confidence in the job and find it very hard to
interact with other employees in the organization. I become insecure surrounded
by the expert and experienced people in the workplace.
I
realized during doing this job that I have challenged myself and also need to
put all of my potential to my work. I started working harder and start
interacting with more of the employees at work. I also start reading books
related to my field to get more of techniques and tips for doing my job
effectively. By doing this I also raised my confidence at work.
By
the time I also realized that for more effective work being the professional of
the HR I need to have good communication skills. I need communication skills
for the better communication in the workplace with the employees and for the
process of hiring and interviewing of employees. I start working on the
communication skills and soon I find myself making a good conversation with the
managers and the other employees in the workplace.
In
my probationary period, I soon started seeing myself as the independent
employees in the workplace, who have gained a lot of confidence and also acquire
effective communication skills. All of the skills that I learn from the work
experience not just make me effective in the job but also let me help the other
employees in the workplace and solving their problems.
The
managers of the organization soon start seeing potential in my work and
encourage me on my efforts. One of the managers of the HR department after
seeing the improvement appoints me to handle the customer complaints in the
organization. The expert HR managers
helped me a lot to handle the customer complaints and also taught how to make
the customer of the company satisfied. This was also a very knowledgeable
experience for me as I see how the professional handles the complaints of the
customers. Although it is not as simple as it seems, I still remember that when
I got the first complaint from the customer and literally I become very scared
to handle it.
The
complaint of the customers was very serious and the comments were also very
disturbing for me to read. With all of the tensions, the main thing is to satisfy
the customers with the best solution to the problem and this is what I have to
do effectively. Thanks to my collages managers who help to handle all of the
complaint and also collaborate with me throughout my journey. In this
experience of the customer complain management I learn a lot about the handling
of complaints, writing the reports to customers and then provide them with the
best solution of the problems.
Throughout
the experience of the complaint management of the customers, I also got to know
how to work under pressure when the situation is unfavorable. I have also made
a lot of mistakes during this period but at the same time learn a lot from
them. Although the job was very challenging for me at the same time it is the
part of my experience that would help me to do my job effectively and become a
good professional.
During
my job, I also clearly realized about all of the skills that I have to acquire
and the experience that I get from the job. I also know that the company and
the manager see the potential in my work and see me as a good professional. One
of the top managers also told me that they are very much satisfied with my work
and in the future, they see me as a good professional with a high position in
the industry. Their words mean a lot to me and it was a good way of
appreciation.
I
also learn from the experience in the organization that nothing is impossible if
one is determined for what he actually want from life. At the first the things
that were very difficult for me, in the end, they come easy to me and I feel
comfortable with my job. I once also help the employer in the overall interviewing
process of the recruitment hiring employees. I was the first experience for me
to conduct the interview. First, I have to call the candidates for the
interview, the manager guides me in this manner and I did quite well.
During the interviewing process, I also
realized that the I need to focus on my communication skills. In the very first
interviews, I make a couple of mistakes but the employer corrects me and helps
to do well in the whole process of the interviewing and recruitment. All in
all, I can say that the experience in the organization as HR was full of
learning for me and I get a lot of experience from the organization. My time in
the organization quite worthy and full of learning that would help of in my
future career and I also got to know about my highest potential during the job.
Period two:
2016-2017: Social work of Human Resources Management
I
just ended working in as HR professional, I wanted to work with unprivileged people
and do a role that allowed me to give back to my community, so I did a short
course and completed it and applied for a job in social work. I had no
experience in this sector but I was very passionate and I felt I have the potential
to do it after completing the course. However, when I started working in the role,
I realized that I really didn't know as much as I thought I did about the
social work. The organization offered
more development using methods like workshops to polish my skills to execute
the role. I attend inner strength and emotional intelligence skills through the
workshop. In fact, I found that the skills
I got in the workshop were not enough and to do the effective work I have to
develop my learning and skill through consistent practice. My practical job being a social worker allows
me to:
·
Helping people going through troubles with
family relations and clashes
·
Helping People Suffering severe personal dilemma
and mental pain
·
Helping People addicted to drug and alcohol tribulations
·
defending individuals from damage to themselves
or to others people
The work of a social worker for me was very exciting and comforting for
me. The previous experience of the HR management also helps a lot to interact
with the people and listening to their problems. My experience of the
communication skills also helps me in this profession. the work experience was
very unique because I not need to always be
in the office environment but I use to visit the hospitals, old age
homes, orphan houses, schools etc. there is no doubt that I have enjoyed a lot
in this job because it involves the interaction with the people from different
classes and backgrounds.
On the other side of the picture, I also got to know about the hardships
of the people in the society. Sometimes I have to deal with sensitive and
serious issues of child labor and the women rights violation. I still remember
the day when a lady with her burnt face comes to the social work department and
the administration of the department recommended her case to me.
Her face was completely burnt and her
condition was unimaginable, first after saw her become very disturbed. She told
me that her husband throws the acid on her face because they had a fight on
some personal issue. After throwing the acid and run away and yesterday the
police caught him and throw him in lockup. The women do not have enough
resources for her treatment so I consult a hospital and tell the administration
of the hospital about the case of the women and request them to provide her
with appropriate treatment under the hospital financial aid policy. Fortunately,
the hospital takes action and provides her with the fully funded treatment and
the surgery. After the first surgery her condition was quite better and I my
social work organization also provided her with a job of making a living for her.
During the job of the social worker, there are a lot of times when I have
to deal with the patients, women, children and the old age people that sometimes
create a difficult for me to think about their situation from their side and
provide them with the best solution of the problems that they are facing. So, I
can say that throughout the job I have to work hard to help the organization
accomplish all of their goals. In a very short time, I realized that I need to
be more flexible and dynamic to continue this job because every day I have to
meet different people, having different issues from different areas of their
life.
This job changes my behavior a lot and also my perspectives on how I see
the people. This job builds the emotional intelligence and patience in me and I
learn the art of helping the people in a right way.
In the nutshell, I can say that I have learned a lot from both f my jobs
and my work experience in two different organizations help me develop a lot of
new professional skills. I also come to know that the academic learning of the
skills just the 15% of the whole skill that one can only get from the experience
and practice in the real world. Both of my job experience opened a lot of new opportunities
for me and also make me a skilled professional for my future career
aspirations.
