The use of information system
project management in the organization is to utilize the software packages that
are developed for the monitoring, controlling, and organizing the projects in
the organization. The purpose of the present study is identified empirical access
to the quality of services, project performance and project management in the
organization. The implementation of information system project management
improves the effectiveness of the manager and project task by controlling,
monitoring, planning, and scheduling of the project. The direct impact of
information system contributes to the specifications of the project and the
impact of the project on the success of the organization. The present study
depends upon the literature survey about information system project management
and evaluation of models provided by researchers in the previous researches for
the evaluation of information system project management in the success of the
organization.
Introduction of Information System Project Management
Information system project
management usually requires organizations to use a software system of the
packet that is meant and developed improve the decision-making process (Forbes, 2000). The project management
information system is required by the organization for the controlling of
projects, planning of the project, and organizing the project. The actual
contribution of information system project development is still unknown (Raymond & Bergeron, 2007). In the current era of technology and
information communication system, a number of studies are conducted to evaluate
the process of transferring information, processing process, and Collection of
data (McManus & Wood-Harper, 2003). The planning and
control process in the organization is not different from each other and
required specific programs to be conducted (Raymond & Bergeron, 2007).
The complete analysis information
leads to emerging of Management and information and unable to continue the
activities without having any disturbance. In the case of incomplete
information, the planning and decision-making process is different and complex (Olson, 2014). Management most
often faces issues about organizing, information system, controlling process,
planning, and decision-making process (Wang, 2012).
The gap between the information system and organization structure is filled by
information system project management (Babaei & Beikzad, 2013; Oprea, et al., 2014).
The purpose of the present is to
contribute to the empirical analysis of quality of system development in
organizations and how it induces impact on the project management and project
performance in the organization. The dependent factor for the crisis faced by
the organization and problems of an information system are also analyzed in the
present project.
Literature review of Information System Project Management
The use of an information system
in project management has obtained Paramount importance in the Project
Management process. In a previous research, (Raymond & Bergeron, 2007)
conducted analysis for the use of information technology in the organization
for the project management process and they concluded that 75% of large
Information Technology system received higher success and on the contrary 75%
of the projects without any use of Information Technology failed miserably (Raymond & Bergeron, 2007). The use of
information system project management is sufficient and really required for the
success of the project. The efficient and effective management of the project supports
the decision taken by management. The research analyst and proposed the
powerful project management software that can be developed for the organization
and can be diffused in all type of organizations for having a contribution in
the project management (Raymond & Bergeron, 2007). The individual use
and effective use of information system project management induce impact on the
success of the project, budgeting process, scheduling of the whole process, and
specification of the system characteristics that contribute to the success of
the project (Oprea, et al., 2014). According to the
authors, the purpose of the study was to analyze the quality of project
management information system in the organization and to examine the impact of
information system project management on the performance of project and
management of project (Raymond & Bergeron, 2007).
Initially, the basic function of
information system project management was Defined by Cleland and King.
According to the model the essential information about the schedule,
performance parameter, interrelationship between the parameters, and
cost-effectiveness of the project was considered (Hallows, 2005). The fundamental role and nature of
information system project management within the project management system was
characterized after having an implementation of project strategies (Raymond
& Bergeron, 2007; LUCKY, et al., 2014). The research
evaluated practical importance and theoretical processes of the project
management system and how it induces impact on the system. The empirical study determined limitation on
the description of demographic issues regarding the project management software
(Santos, 2018). They analyzed specific applications of
software and system modulus in project management tasks such as managing
skills, scaling process, planning, reporting and communicating, estimation of
cost, and management of documentation (Oprea, et al., 2014). The project
management software has a number of advantages and at the same time, its faces
drawbacks and limitations both on the practical and theoretical processes. The
project management software is unable to import the knowledge of a specific
field and answering the questions about the factors a project performance and
project management process (Babaei & Beikzad, 2013).
Delone and Mclean’s were able to
devise the updated version of IAS success model. Davis et al. are constructed a
model that has a focus on the chronological factors for the convergence and
cross-influences over quality and quantity of work (Cadle & Yeates, 2008). The effectiveness
of the model was also analyzed for the technology acceptance model and IS based
conceptualization (Raymond & Bergeron, 2007). The objective of
the research was to analyze and improve project management software and models
for the contribution of successful projects for organizations and individual
levels (LUCKY, et al., 2014). The research is
based upon questions: what are the prime determinants for the success of
information system project management? How the efficiency productivity and
effectiveness of project management can be improved by information system
project management? and finally what are the contributions of information
system project management in the success of the project? The model provided for
the project management was consists of 5 constructs including the quality of
information output, use of information system project management an impact on
the individual user and success of the project (Oprea, et al., 2014). The functionality
of information system project management can be further divided into five
categories including planning of function tool, preparing of the overall project
plan, work breakdown structure, overalls casual estimation, resource analysis,
CPM, pert and Gantt (Raymond & Bergeron, 2007).
(Babaei & Beikzad, 2013) analyzed increase
growth of information technology in the management information system. The research
was the review of problems, challenges, issues, failure, unsuccess of
information system project management in the private sector organization. The study
explained behavioral analysis for the classification of the management
information system, dimensions, and benefits of adequate information for the decision-making
process (Raymond & Bergeron, 2007). According to the
author, the incomplete information disturbs the process of planning,
controlling and decision-making process for the effective practices of
information system in the organization. The research identified the dynamic gap
between the organizational structures and fixed information system (Oprea, et al., 2014). The change in organizational
structure request management access to flexible information, mechanism and
system of management information, and Management of the provided information. The
focus of the main system was to govern the management information system in the
management of the transaction processing system (Raymond & Bergeron, 2007). The management
information system can be integrated in different elements including an
integrated system that provides services for many users, computer system
required to develop link between information system through the database, user
machine interface that responds to the immediate and Temporary researches,
supporting the operation in decision making process, and presentation of all
the information in the management level (Santos, 2018). The research identified Computer Based
system and capability of analyzing the data in an organization. The management
in the organization uses management information system as a tool to define all
the problems that are faced by the managers to find the solutions (Oprea, et al., 2014).
Evaluation of literature of Information System Project Management
The descriptive result of the
analysis defines the multivariable relationship between structural equation
Modelling and research modeling. The parallel least square method was used to
have a comparison in EQS and LISREL. The model first to the reliability and
significance of path Coefficient is measured for the dependent construction of
variance. The reliability factor was measured along with the internal
consistency of measurement (Raymond & Bergeron, 2007). The unit dimensional
criteria were verified. The prime objective of the study was to investigate the
direct and indirect effects of information system project management on the
success of the project. Three dimensions were considered including technical
(information system project management quality and quality of information),
organizational (impact of information system project management on the success
of the project), and managerial (the use of information system project
management and impact on the project management) (Oprea, et al., 2014). The influence was
measured, payment integration of system had an important role in the quality of
outcomes and flexibility of the information system. The research identified the
strong and direct relation of information with the success of the project. At
the managerial level, the quality of Information and influence of the project
success was analyzed (LUCKY, et al., 2014). The higher quality
of the system requires extensive and intensive planning, reporting activities,
monitoring and control, and complete planning of the information system. However, their research has limitations. Firstly,
the random nature of samples reduces the generalization of results (Cadle & Yeates, 2004). Secondly, the
electronic questionnaires used in the research induces limitation on the
variables and number of questions because the questionnaire is self-administered
(Santos, 2018). The brightness was reduced by having a
separate section for the quality of information system project management, the
impact of information system project management on the success of the project, quality
and use of information (Oprea, et al., 2014). Thirdly in order to
reduce the biases in the results, the additional objective based on perceptual
measurement for the project success was considered. The study included a
cross-sectional consideration for the causality and longitudinal analysis (Oprea, et
al., 2014; Raymond & Bergeron, 2007).
The research considered the
management activities and information of system for solving the problems. The
benefits of information system project management associated with better
services. The implementation of information system project management improves
the process of solving the problems with higher efficiency and higher accuracy
and it helps the organization in the identification and solving the problems (Raymond & Bergeron, 2007). The benefits of the
information system project management are higher for the managers. The major
drawback of information system project management identified by the researchers
is that it cannot meet the special demands (Raymond & Bergeron, 2007). Very often it
provides all the major and exact information. The existing barriers to the
information system project management in an organization can be divided into
environmental factors, organizational factors, and humanistic factors (Santos, 2018). In the case of
humanistic factors, the lack of information of managers about the use of
software’s and information system result in the failure of meeting the
requirements. In the case of the organizational sector, the lack of education
in the specialized courses and evaluation of existing powers results in the
incomplete implementation of information system project management (Olson, 2003). The environmental
factor includes a lack of evaluation of environmental conditions for the
implementation of information system project management in the organization (Raymond
& Bergeron, 2007; Santos, 2018).
Conclusion of Information System Project Management
The aim of the present study was
to determine the actual impact of Information Technology on the project
management process in an organization. The implementation of information system
project management defines the main determinants and success of the project in
terms of efficiency, productivity, and increase reliability. The objective of the present work was to
evaluate the success model of information system project management and how it
faces challenges in the empowerment of managerial tasks, planning, spelling,
control, and monitoring of the system. The performance of the organization
improved by the implementation of Information Technology and has a significant
contribution to the success of the project. The models of previous researchers
were also evaluated for the use of information system in the organizations.
