The
effective communication has huge significance in the modern-day world not only
in the corporate world but also in our routine life as well. The individuals
that know how to communicate their message effectively to others are more
successful than those individuals who face difficulty to communicate with other
individuals. Recently I have studied regarding how the speech can be organized
and delivered to the audience. It was quite interesting for me to learn that if
the speech is organized efficiently and a proper sequence is followed then the
speaker can grab the attention of the audience.
After
learning about organizing and outlining of speech I can proudly say that my communication
skills have improved. Now if I have to deliver an informative or persuasive speech,
I can deliver it with more confidence and without any hesitation. I have
realized that by using phrases and quotes I can grab the attention of the
audience. The statement from which the speech has to begin should be attractive
and attention-getting. The speech should begin with the opener after that
statement of significance should be told to the audience. The thesis statement reflects
the theme and main idea of the speech (Vandelanotte, 2009).
From
the speech outline one can know how to convey the message to the audience and
get their attention sometimes the speaker conveys their message but the listeners
are not really able to understand what the speaker actually wants to say to its
listeners. Therefore, it is important to engage the listeners into the speech
and continuously grabbing their attention by using informative phrases. In the
informative speech, it is important to quote the sources from where the
information has been taken. Through this, the audience will realize the
authenticity of the information that is being shared by the speaker (Vandelanotte, 2009).
I
can say that the information which I have learned in 3 weeks has provided me
enough knowledge about the communication process and why it is necessary for
any individual. The communication is necessary for the organizational success. It
has been seen that the organization performance enhances when the employees
perform their task effectively. When the employees understand the task accurately,
they able to perform it efficiently and that is the reason for the increase in
performance. Therefore, good communication process does have importance. The
leaders or top management of the corporation also have to realize the
importance of good speech because they are the one who has to influence their
employees (Dirven & Verspoor, 2004).
The
managers or leaders usually give the persuasive speech so that they can
persuade their followers. Through my
previous reading, I have realized the importance of persuasive speaking and I
can say that it is important to influence the listener through the speech. If
the listeners are not going to persuade then it means that the speech does not
have any impact on the listener and the objective or goal of the speech is not
achieved. The purpose of persuasive speech is usually to influence the listeners
so that they can perform the specific task more accurately and try to find the
solution to the problem (Dirven & Verspoor, 2004)
If
I summarize my learning regarding different types of speeches and communication
process, I can say that delivering the effective speech is essential for
providing information or motivating the individuals of the society. The speech
is given to grab the attention of the people and convey the message that is
important for them. Through outlining the speech and adopting the persuasive
approach I can say that I can deliver the good speech in front of the audience.
My confidence has increased up to the lot of extents which essential for a good
speaker. Without confidence, no one can become a good speaker (Vandelanotte, 2009).
