Proposal to MEDIA for Utilizing Their Land for Pineapple Cultivation

            The name of our organization is Vision Borneo SD Bud. The company was established over a year ago primarily to engage in the business of pineapple plantation under the MD 2 variants. Our plantation is situated at Bongs wan area, and we currently have about 10 acres of land planted with MD 2 pineapples. Besides MD 2 pineapple plantations, Vision Borneo also assist our clients in building a greenhouse for their plant seedlings. Our long-term vision is to achieve economies of scale and be the Malaysia market leader in pineapple plantation. Our primary target market is to export MD 2 pineapples to China.

MEDIA Overview

        Sabah Economic Development and Investment Authority (MEDIA) was established in the year 2008. The purpose of this authority was to improve the standard of living of the people who live in Sabah. The authority’s main aim is to increase the economy of Sabah through initiating various development programs. Bahasa has initiated a service based economic model which help the region to increase its economy. The MEDIA has set many targets, such as reducing poverty from 23% to 12%. The vision of MEDIA is to make Sabah an economically prosperous region.  Vision Borneo has decided to collaborate with MEDIA to achieve the common goal of economic growth

Purpose of the Proposal to Media's

        A section of Media's land located beside SAP (Sabah Agro-Industrial Precinct) at Bondwoman, Pa par is currently vacant. Vision Borneo have taken the initiative to propose the utilization of the said land for MD 2 pineapple cultivation purposes. We believe the project will be a win/win situation for both MEDIA & Vision Borneo in view that the vacant land will be fully utilized instead of being vacant. The proceeds generated from the plantation will be split accordingly between MEDIA and Vision Borneo. Besides that, MEDIA may also utilize the plantation for R&D and training purposes for future entrepreneur. The people of Bondwoman town will also benefit from the employment opportunities, which ultimately is in line with Media's vision to generate more jobs and improve local Saharan's livelihood.

        Vision Borneo’s core operation is in the pineapple cultivation from MD 2 variants. It means that its main product is pineapples. Pineapple is considered among the most common fruit in many parts of the world. The pineapple is used in the preparation of many food dishes & desserts. Over the years, the pineapple industry has experienced significant growth in Malaysia due to an increase in demand for the fruit. The Malaysian pineapple also has in demand in other countries like China. Therefore investing in the pineapple industry is a good decision, and there are many opportunities for the Vision Borneo for generating profit in future.

        In the above table, the top importing countries of pineapple are mentioned. Over the years the USA has remained the largest importer of pineapples.

        The consumption of fruit in Malaysia has increased in the past several years. It means that in the upcoming years, the demand for pineapples will further experience growth. With the growth in pineapple consumption, there is a need to plant more pineapple. We in Vision Borneo realized this potential and decided to invest in the pineapple business so that not only the demand of the people can be efficiently fulfilled, but also the economy of Malaysia can experience growth. MEDIA also have the opportunity to increase its income by providing land to Vision Borneo. With extra earning, MEDIA will have the opportunity to initiate a new program in Sabah (Othman, 2017).

Land Usage

            MEDIA will be asked for their assistance to provide subsidies in terms of seeds & labor.  Through subsidies Vision, Borneo can cultivate pineapple without any major financial issue. The Land of MEDIA will be used for free, which means that the organization will not have to pay any rent to the MEDIA. The cultivation of pineapples and management of the plantation will be performed by the Vision Borneo itself. However, the profits which the Vision Borneo will generate is going to be split between MEDIA & Vision Borneo.

Conclusion on Media's

        It is concluded that our vision is to become the largest pineapple planters in Malaysia. We want to become a market leader in pineapple. The Vision Borneo is pineapple Planting Corporation. It means that its main product is pineapples. Pineapple is considered among the most common fruit in many parts of the world. The pineapple is used in the preparation of many food dishes & desserts. Over the years, the pineapple industry has experienced growth in Malaysia due to increase in demand of the pineapple.
