Hello everyone, hope you are all
good. I am [NAME], and I work for Australian Chinese Daily as a journalist. This
is basically the largest Chinese newspaper in Australia that was first
published on 19 March 1987 in Sydney. Australian Chinese Daily was established
by Sandra Lau, an entrepreneurial Chinese immigrant, and the vision of the
founder was to bridge the strengths and gap links between China and Australia.
Australian Chinese Daily has witnessed various revolutions since its formation.
The Australian Chinese Daily is a manufacturer and distributor that has an infomediary
business model. The Australian Chinese Daily has two complementary weekend magazines,
i.e. Australian Chinese Weekly, which are most influential and widely read daily
publication in the Chinese language in Australia. This is only and the first newspaper
in Australia that is published in the Chinese language. The latest news for Australian
Chinese Daily are sourced from news sources of amalgamated Australian news as
well as Hong Kong, Taiwan, and China and interpreted in a way that answers the local
community needs, with a mix of entertainment, sports, politics, business and
features, and international and local news (ACD, 2019).
Being a journalist at the
Australian Chinese Daily, my duties and responsibilities include evaluating
leads, receiving assignments for newspaper stories, editing as well as revising
work for the editorial approval, and working in collaboration with production
staff, editors, and reporters. Moreover, I am responsible for collecting information
through investigation, observation, interviews, and research for newsworthy
stories. I travel to different locations for Australian Chinese Daily to find
relevant and current details for events that are newsworthy after the fact and
in real-time. My job responsibilities include relationship development within
community and building sources’ network for interviews. I take photographs, record
audios, and make movies to document facts and events (Wang, 2016).
As a whole, I have been enjoying working
for the Australian Chinese Daily, and I would love to continue my services for
the newspaper because it is based on China, and I belong to China. I am
familiar with the culture of China, and I can collect a good piece of
information for the newspaper even sitting in Australia. I do not argue that the
Australian Chinese Daily is not a depressed or dreary place. However, it is
not. There is a lot of fun while working, and I always wanted to change the
world, I believe, Australian Chinese Daily is a platform to make my dream come true.
I have learned various lessons along this journey with Australian Chinese Daily;
the newspaper has helped me keep going and pick myself up always. I am good at the
Chinese language; I can speak Chinese, write Chinese, and understand Chinese; in
a nutshell, I love the Chinese language. Australian Chinese Daily keeps me connected
to my favourite language in many ways, and this is one of the great motivations
to keep working with the Australian Chinese Daily. Journalism is a field where
you learn new and unending things daily, you face threats and fears, but you
fight, you fight for the truth!
