There
are many issues which need to be address before considering animal to human
transplantation. First of all extensive research should be performed to find
the consequences of animal to human transplantation. The researchers have
performed some research on this but currently there is not much evidence
present that shows long term after math of animal to human transplantation.
When scientists of medical experts talk about this several questions comes in
the mind of individual. The first question that comes in the mind is that is it
ethically correct? How the patient who is accepting the organ of animal will
feel like? Does this cause any other medical issue in the human body? Can
animal organ survive in the human body for a longer period of time? Etc.
There
are many patients around the world who are looking for organ transplantation.
Organ transplantation is a long process because finding a donor is an uphill
task. Some patients even die waiting for donor. Seeing this situation one can
consider animal to human transplantation because it would help the patients to
get organ on time and through this many human lives might be saved. On the
other hand it might not be ethically correct because killing an innocent animal
cannot be justified. However if we analyze the situation critically than it can
be said that in future the possibility of animal to human transplant is
possible (Veatch and Ross).
Today
many animals are being slaughter for human consumption and many people does not
find it a major ethical issue. Similarly if scientist & medical experts
create awareness then it is possible that in future society accept animal to
human transplant. In my opinion the thing that needs more consideration would
be the medical complications rather than ethical issues. If animal to human
transplant can save human life than it will no longer remain a major ethical
issue. However choosing the animal for the purpose of transplantation would be
big question.
It
would not be a good idea to choose in danger specie for the animal to human
transplantation. For instance if baboon are chosen for transplantation then
first the scientists should consider about growing their numbers. It can be
done through creating special reserves or through farming just like other farm
animals. Through this the chance of baboon extinction would come to an end and
some of the issues which most animal activists raise can be efficiently
addressed (Veatch and Ross).
In
order to proceed further in animal to human transplantation medical research
should be performed. If the research shows possibility of animal to human
transplant without any future complications only then the scientists should
move forward. Different medical complications should be consider in research
such as infections, diseases and survival rate of the organ in the human
beings. Before making this a reality the scientists should spend significant
time in research and then implement in real life so that chances of animal to
human transplant can increase. In simple words in order to make animal to human
transplant a reality huge efforts are required (Sharp).
The
patient’s point of view is also matters a lot. If the patient does not want
animal organ than it would not be ethically correct to continue transplantation
without the consent of patient. In future the possibility exists that society
might consider animal to human transplant for saving the life of their love
ones. Patients wait for a long time to find donors and if the situation of
patient is sever then such patients die during finding donor for them. Animal
to human transplant shows a way through which not only the life of human can be
saved but also many problems that human face can be resolved (Veatch and Ross).
If
all the above discussion is summarized than it is evident that there are many
patients around the world who are looking for organ transplantation. Organ
transplantation is a long process because finding a donor is an uphill task.
Some patients even die waiting for donor. Seeing this situation one can
consider animal to human transplantation because it would help the patients to
get organ on time and through this many human lives might be saved.
