The
super toys last all summer long is actually a short story written by Brian
Aldiss. The story was publish in the year 1969. The whole story revolves around
the boy name David who wants to share its feelings with her mother. David is
actually a robot and not a real human being. The story is set in a futuristic
big city that is overcrowded and fill with robots with artificial intelligence.
Through analyzing the story one can understand how the technology around the
world is developing and influencing human beings. The life of the human beings
have totally changed through the technological revolution (ALDISS).
The
key theme of the story includes artificial intelligence, family and hate.
Through this story the author portrays how the future of mankind will look like
after creation of artificial intelligence. It is evident that technology have
lots of benefits however the technology have some drawbacks as well which are
discussed in various ways in this story. The android humans in the story were
created to meet the needs of the humans of the future who are suffering from
isolation or loneliness. Instead of providing solution to problems this story
has raised more questions like does robots have same capabilities like humans?
Or can robots take over the world? Etc (ALDISS).
Through
this story it has been analyzed that the human beings would have to take
rational decisions in order to resolve the future challenges. If humans are not
going to take rational decisions than the problems will further increase which
will have disastrous consequences. There is no doubt that technology has many
benefits however its drawbacks should also be consider while implementation of
the technology. The governments should take serious steps against the problems
that are present across the globe.
