Computer
security is also referred as IT security or cyber-security, it is the
protection of information systems from and theft. It also makes a wall to the
misdirection of services as it includes the controlling of physical access to
hardware along with protection against harm that might arrive through code
injection, data, network access, and malpractice by operators.
Concerns of computer security
Four
important areas are concerned with the computer security:
First
one is confidentiality, second one is integrity, third one is availability, and
fourth one is authentication.
Importance of security
No
doubt, prevention of data theft like work related sheets or documents,
passwords, credit card information, and bank account numbers etc. is very
important in the communication at present since most of our daily tasks rely on
the protection and security of paths for data.
Data
that is present in a computer can always be misused by intrusions which are
unauthorized. The source codes of a program can be changed and modified by an
intruder and can also use the email accounts or pictures of users for creating
unethical and offensive content.
In
computer security, malicious intents can be a significant factor. Often,
intruders use the computers of users for attacking other websites or computers
for creating havoc. That is why it is so important to save the computer against
every possible and potential threat.
Some ways for protecting your computer:
Password protection: The most common
way of securing computers and mobiles is using a password for locking the
devices up. It is one of the most effective ways of making sure that your
devices are completely secure and no one is able to trespass the barrier that
you have set. There is just one thing that should be kept in mind when it comes
to setting a password. You should not use just letters for a password. Other
than using special keys and capital letters, you should also make use of
spaces.
It is true that
you can use spaces for setting a password. This way, only you know where to put
the space. You can either insert it at the end of the password or right at the
beginning. This technique is not only effective but it is also more secure than
the ones you normally use.
Fingerprint lock: This method is also
becoming increasing popular and useful in securing devices from unwanted theft.
It is preferred because it reduces the chances of a breach to minimum because
no one else other than you can unlock the devices using your fingerprints. Most
of the phones at the moment come with the technology for fingerprint scanner
and you might find it intriguing that even some laptops now support this
technology.
Fingerprint lock relies on the mark that you
leave. That is why you should make sure that you fingerprints are not damaged
or you won’t be able to get access to your device. In order to avoid this from
happening, you can simply add two fingers or more.
