The numbers are video
gaming addiction is dreadfully increasing day by day. When Video gaming is
discussed it is visualized that teen age boys being glued to television screen.
However astonishingly enough the average age of a regular gamer is thirty five
years. Forty percent of the games community is women and one fourth of the
games are aged above 50 years. Laws are being drafted to overcome this
problems but are not made constitution as the huge amount of people has
connected interests.
Thesis Statement:
Video Gaming is
getting immensely popular these days and people from every age group are
getting addicted to it day by day.
Like any other thing video gaming
has disadvantages too. The ratio of demerits as compared to merits is too high
and sadly enough people have the knowledge of the harms caused by the video
gaming still they try to defend their actions. One of the serious harms caused
by it is the easy access of adult gaming material to the minors. The evolution
in graphics has increased the intensity of harms. These negative images are a
serious concern for the mental growth of the children. Their feeble minds can
easily be distracted by video games and deprive them from the important things
they are made to do.
Another problem that is
increasing day by day is lack of patience and violence. Gamer are experienced
to have higher level of impatience and violence as compared to average adults.
Games are being designed and their graphics are very close to reality. The sale
of mature rated games are increasing day by day and is igniting rage and
aggression in adults. According to research it is experienced that fifty one
percent of the boys who are exposed to mature rated games ended up in brawls
with fellows during 12 months period. 40 percent of the girls also went into
physical fights during this course. So overall this whole can be summed up as
aggression initiating thing.
“The advice is really, if all at
possible, you shouldn’t be allowing “M” rated games, even though there is also
violent behavior even in “E” and “T” rates games (Howell).”
One of the major harms caused by
is time wastage. Teen boys in their prime ages are ruining their future by
wasting their time playing useless video games that are doing no good not only
to their mental health but also their physical health. Their constant exposure
to screens is ruining their eye sights. Their grades consistently gets poor as
the days passed. More and more students are dropping out of their colleges. Overall
it has adverse effects on their academics and careers.
Summing up the discussion it can
be said that the graph of harms caused by gaming is getting bigger day by day.
Radical steps are required to be taken for the eradication of the matter. Laws
must be constituted to avoid the sale of mature content games to minors.
Parents also has the duty to limit the usage of video games to a certain limit that
will not harm their child. People should be made to spend a little amount of
time daily outside the houses and to have interactions with the people around
them and can have every sort of experiences.
