Reflection Essay on the segregation and school in the south area

            The video is about segregation and schools in the south area. Segregation represents the separation of the human being in different racial and ethical groups. In this video segregation is racial segregation between white and black people. The video presents the situation of society in the early 1900s when racial discrimination and conflicts were quite common. At that time some politicians and social leaders were trying to reduce such conflicts by integration of the society, particularly the educational system. In 1957, some leaders from both white and Black communities took a decision to integrate state universities and schools. For this purpose, it was decided that in the beginning nine students were given the opportunity to study with the white students at the central high school.

             In accordance with me, it was a great step to eliminate discriminative behavior from societies. But after watching this video I found the situation quite different from the expectations as rather than accepting such anti-discriminative actions white people started to protect against black people. According to the video, next morning National Guards ring the bell for school with orders to only admit the students who belong to the white race. While central high school selected nine students from the black community on the basis of their excellent academic results. In a nutshell, first day 8 went to the school with proper protection but the ninth student went to the school separately. 0Thus, crowed and media found an opportunity to threaten her. Moreover, the video also presented that when Alex Wilson and Moses Newsom came to the school they faced furious behavior crowd shouting against the black students in central school.

         Alex Wilson was also hit by a brick in his head. Videos recorded at that time show how mob was shouting in anger against the decision taken by the school administration to give to the black students with their white children. Basically, the acts of the little rock nine were so controversial. They were given opportunity but against the will of white people. Excluding white people, many people from the black community also not agreed with this decision because according to the integration was impossible. Somehow, the court supported the little nine as it was said that preventing black people from entering school and mob are just overriding the decisions of the federal court that is not acceptable.

        In addition, little nine were given security by troops who were used to stay with them at each and every place from the gym to the classroom. According to one of these nine students, it was not easy for her to stay all the time with the troops. Thus rather than feeling confident, they were feeling uncomfortable. Actually, in my views, such segregation could be handled by making strict laws rather than putting the life of little nine in such a controversial and uncomfortable situation.
