It
is important to understand that what overall perspective is being developed in
this article and how things are being explained with regards to concepts such
as information chaos as well as information opportunity. The fact of the matter
is that information is something, which is surrounding the world in so many
ways. The people as well as businesses have to deal with so much information on
daily basis such as texts, emails, documents, customer analytics, Facebook
posts, Twitter tweets, conversations on LinkedIn, voicemails, podcasts, videos
as well as data saved on cloud platforms. In business terms, this information
is crucial to do the job on their hands like doing their business, knowing
about their customers and then targeting them with specific information etc.,
and with regards to people, this information is crucial for their entertainment
in daily life ( Mancini)
It
clearly means that information is in large numbers and its presence is
everywhere, so the question is whether all of this information is arranged and
disciplined, and answer to this question is no. It is so because it is very difficult
to arrange and discipline so much information around us. The information is no
doubt critical in every aspect of life, but fact to keep in mind is that this
information is not effectively managed and arranged, so it is quite hard to
explore real opportunities that can be attained by using this information ( Mancini)
This
overall situation is related to as “information chaos”, which means that data
is too much to be handled and businesses are not able to effectively use this
data to get real opportunities for them. One of the recent research studies
conducted by AIIM revealed the fact the large business organizations, who feel
that information chaos is a major problem for them; they are up to 75% as per
their study. It means that information chaos is certainly an issue and
businesses are ready to realize this problem in their business processes. The
other major issue with this problem is that it is going to get worst in the
future as data is constantly increasing in huge numbers, so if any proper strategy
will not be made to explore information opportunities, then information chaos
will keep damaging business in so many ways ( Smith)
