Participatory Noise pollution monitoring using mobile phones

Objective/Purpose

The objective of the article is, develop the monitoring platform of the participative Noise pollution to enable the non-governmental bodies and governmental organizations as well as to citizen to obtain the insight and awareness into a problem of urban Noise pollution. And also by using the Mobile phone monitoring the participatory Noise pollution.

Method of Study

In this article three methods are discussed;

·         Simulation-based maps

·         Sensor Network

·         Grassroots Campaigns

In the simulation based maps; noises sources behavior is knowledge along with applying the physicals laws of sound propagation, and the complex model of computer is able to predict the different levels of in the noise of the huge area. To monitoring the environment, the interest is increasing in the sensor networks along with urban sensing. The participatory methodology is the better support for the involvement of the citizens by using the graphical information systems. (Maisonneuvea, Stevens, & Ochab, 2010)

Result

The results of this article are based on their methods; the emission modeling results are simulated the Noise map. And the uncertainty results are also produced, in the simulation due to computer models that are validated for the limited amount of measurements of. For the good results, it is necessary to collect the possible data along with the large group pf mobilize participants.

Conclusion

In this article, the presented model is about the Noise Tube, and the aim of the article is fulfilled. The web 2.0 inspired technique allows the empowerment of the citizens in the assessment of pollutions through raising the awareness regarding the environmental conditions by the use of the mobile phone. The information sources are demonstrated; in what way the Noise tube goes beyond for the traditional Noise maps due to the new nature of a collected data.

Critique

This article is associated with the difficulty of the Noise pollution monitoring approach, then to critique this approach in the real world situation due to the social and technological research challenges which need to be resolved for the democratization of the environmental sensing. To evaluate the precisions of our approach number of the experiments in the collaboration is conducted.
