1.      General Study Orientation

General study orientation of this research study is quantitative. Research is based on the results and finding of a survey conducted by the MEPS. Basically, research is based on the primary quantitative data obtained from the interview.      

2.      Sample technique

The sampling technique used in this research is probability sampling technique as each person living in that area (selected geographical location by the researcher) has equal probability to be selected as the research samples. While further in probability sampling stratified sampling technique was used.       

3.      Sample Characteristics

           Sampling is based on demographic characteristics. Research samples are adult people between the age ranges of 18-64. Total participants are 2358 males and females. In the national survey, all participants were from the United States. Samples were selected on the basis of their age and geographical location rather than economic or social status.     

4.      Choice of research design strategy

The research design strategy is a descriptive cross-sectional design strategy. In the research, participants were selected and other research activities are done to provide the report of psychological distress and usual practice characteristics.    

5.      The process of Instrument Development

          In the research study measuring instrument was developed through using 6 items Kessler Psychological Distress Scale (Jones, et al., 2015). Pilot testing was used to collect data on the basis of this 6 item Kessler scale. Anxiety and other responses of participants were collected through this measurement instrument.

6.      Data Analysis and Interpretation

          Stata 13.0 software was used for statistical data analysis. In the Stata, the researcher used the multiple imputation packages. The researcher also used the non-parametric statistical technique chi-square test to analyze the collected responses of research samples (Jones, et al., 2015). Moreover, to collect information about the relationship between mental health services use and type of usual provider researcher used multivariable logistic model.

              Other than analysis researcher used tables to present data results. Researcher interpreted the data analysis findings to through describing results and p-value of domains. Research findings represent that construct validity was taken into consideration while analyzing collected data. Researcher measured the construct validity through the use of a single item of perceived health care quality (Jones, et al., 2015). Here 0-10 rating scale was used in accordance to which 0 was representing the worst healthcare possible.     

7.      Other Analysis

           In the research paper graphs or visual presentation of data was missing that can represent the response tendency. In the research article researcher also did not present problem statement or research objectives that could help out the readers in understanding the overall research purpose and rationale for this pilot research study.
