In today’s modern as well as global society, the air transport is considered to be an important and indispensable thing. The world has become a global village, where distances do not matter anymore due to facilities of air travel. There was a time when traveling from one part to the other part of the world was not easy, but with the support of air transport, one can travel anywhere in the world. This marks the importance of air travel for people as well as economies as well because handsome revenues can be earned by public and private airline companies. In economic terms, the role of air travel is crucial because it helps to promote tourism and international travel, which plays its part in generating revenues for countries. There are many other important factors as well, which all endorse that air transport is the crucial facility. But the question is that how airlines, as well as air travel related activities and matters, are handled so that air travel remains safe and considerable for the people. For this purpose, the role of civil aviation authority is crucial because it is the authority, which manages all relevant matters of air travel. The airline industry needs proper rules and regulations and a proper framework to move forward so that they can earn revenues. In addition to that safety of air travel is the most important issue, and all of such issues are managed by civil aviation authorities (Daily FT, 2013).

            In this paper, the strategic analysis of civil aviation system of Sultanate of Oman will be compiled with relevant facts and figures that how Oman is managing its civil aviation system, and what can be improved in the future for better performance and results. It is important to mention here that the civil aviation system of Oman is managed by its Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA), which is the legal government entity. PACA has been provided legal, administrative as well as financial independence so that authority can be able to perform its various responsibilities & activities related to Oman’s civil aviation without any issues. The role of PACA is to make sure that it works as per the instructions provided by National Service of Metrology and air navigation services. PACA is also responsible for various other matters like issuing licensing for maintenance of stations, crews along with making Oman’s bilateral air agreements with other nations, and make sure that air transport safety, as well as airports security, is maintained accordingly. All kind of airline operations is also managed by PACA with relevant rules and regulations to comply with international standards (PACA, 2019). The vision stated by PACA for its work is “To be renowned for civil aviation safety and security, the excellence of our people and the value we create for Oman”. This vision shows the strategic direction of the civil aviation system developed by PACA, which wants to remain on course for ensuring safety and security of civil aviation in Sultanate of Oman (Paca.gov.om, 2019)
