Oman has various strengths in
managing its aviation system like they have adopted great technology and made
sure that they are following international safety standards in all regards. That's
why they have got a commendation from ICAO for developing great national civil
aviation programs, which are allowing them to enhance their quality, efficiency,
and performance for handling the civil aviation industry. Oman's civil aviation
system has enough capacity to meet all safety and security standards of international
level advised by ICAO, and that's why they have been appreciated by ICAO for
playing a key role in civil aviation safety on a global level. Moreover, the
other strength is their serious approach to develop their civil aviation system
so that they are one of the top civil aviation systems in the world (ICAO, 2018)
Weaknesses of SWOT
Analysis
Overall, the civil aviation system
does not have any considerable weaknesses because PACA was developed in 2012 to
mitigate their past weaknesses. The civil aviation industry for Oman has been
on the rise for the last many years and that's why its civil aviation authority
needed reorganization to meet coming needs. So, it was done by developing PACA,
which adopts various programs to fulfill any gaps in their civil aviation
system, and develop a system, which is integrated with international standards.
Opportunities of SWOT
Analysis
The Sultanate of Oman’s civil
aviation system has been going through great development phase since 2012, and things
have been on eth right track since then. The country realized that they have
various opportunities to come up with great initiatives in the future. So, it
can be said that Oman’s civil aviation system developed faster than any other
country in the Middle East. They have grabbed every possible opportunity like
developing new airports and developing their capacity to handle the increasing
number of Oman air passengers. The growth of the civil aviation industry of
Oman is considerable to look at in so many ways. It has been a great move by
Oman to restructure its civil aviation system by revamping its civil aviation authority,
which has to handle all civil aviation related activities in Oman. The civil
aviation industry of Oman has more great opportunities to look at in the future
as global traveling is increasing. The people like to fly different
destinations of the world for tourism, so civil aviation industry has great
potential in terms of tourism. The country should look for developing more
international airports in different cities so that international passengers can
travel with ease to those destinations. PACA can work with all stakeholders to
do marketing for new airports and travel destination in Oman, helping to boost
its tourism economy. Oman can also look to develop more bilateral agreements
with other countries to get more passengers from those countries by developing
soft rules and allowing people to fly to Oman without any hassles (Lawati, 2017)
Threats of SWOT Analysis
It is important to look at threats
incurred not only by Oman civil aviation system but by global aviation system
across the world. One of the major threats to civil aviation system across the
world is terrorism. Since the horrific incident of 9/11 in the United States,
the safety and security of civil aviation industry have become more crucial in
so many ways. The countries around the world have tried their best to enhance
their aviation safety and security standards so that they can deal with any considerable
terrorist attacks or threats. The data is transferred online so civil aviation
systems have to be good enough to keep this information safe from any outside
threats. Moreover, the increasing competition in the aviation industry is also
a threat for many civil aviation authorities in the world (Blackwell, 2017)
