The name of the organization is The Royal Oman Police (ROP). The Royal Oman Police has been an integral part of the Omani society, and the major revamp and changes of the organization were done in 1970s. In 1972, it joined hands with International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), whereas in the same year, it was included in the Arab Organization for Social Defense against Crime (Royal Oman Police, 2019). The mission of the organization is stated as “Although the Policeman's Job is difficult, he is proud of it. The work first require him to be sincere, honest and also to continue the efforts pleasantly, smilingly and good-hearted”. It shows the real essence of their work values, where Royal Oman Police has been given the mission by Qaboos bin Said that they have to work with sincerity, honesty and with a smiling face. It means that policeman working in ROP cannot be harsh, as it would go against their values and mission. This mission actually set their core values, which are to serve people pleasantly, and work as being honest to their job (ROP, 2019).

            It is important to mention here that president of the organization was given the title of "the Commissioner for police", but this title was changed by the Royal Decree, and new title for the president of the ROP was given as the Inspector General of Police and Customs in 1974. The other important fact to mention is that almost 30 years ago; internal security concept was not there in Oman as local people named walis handled the security matters with the help of Askars, the men like policemen without any uniform. So, ROP is a modern concept to the society of Oman and all this transformation happened during the 1970s. But ROP quickly gained its foothold in this security field, and became one of the best in its region. The other important hallmark for the organization happened in 1980, when the Police Academy was established by His Majesty, and the new name of this police academy is Sultan Qaboos Academy for Police Science. So, this is some major and brief description of the organization, which tells that how it started and when it gained its full shape in Omani society (www.rop.gov.om, 2019)
