What is social control and what is its place in progressive classroom?

            It can be said that social control is necessary for the society’s existence. There are no two persons who are similar in terms of interests, altitudes, ideas, and nature. Every individual is completely different from the other. Furthermore, cultural difference exist among people as well. Social control is very important for maintaining the old order. Social control is also very important because it protects social interests and satisfies common requirements. Moreover, if there is no social control, every individual would be behaving freely and the society would become nothing but simply a jungle. Social control actually plays an important role in providing social sanction to the behavior’s social ways. There are, in fact, several customs, modes, and folkways prevalent in the society. Every other person in the society has to follow them. That is why it is important to realize that sanction is provided by social control to social norms. A progressive classroom is the one that values old rule and focuses more on the experience rather than the knowledge. Considering the fact social control focuses on the old rule, progressive classroom seems to work fine with the social order. Both entities support each other and progressive classroom is complemented by it (Cooley, 2017).
