The author “Curt
Dudley Marling and Alex Gurn” describes “troubling the foundations of special
education: Examining the myth of the normal curve” and the major concern of the
paper was the development of consciousness and disability issues. In their
work, the normal curve represented the achievement of students. The achievement
of students is measured by the constellation of scores obtained based on
intelligence tests. Instead of common-sense appeal, the substantial body of
evidence indicates the output of curves and normal curve shows that the model illustrates
the poor model for educational theories. The critics of the normal curve show
variation in the general population and represent specified groups of
individuals. The normal curve is applied for the homogeneous distribution of
scores and measurement errors were also considered to determine variation in
variables and average score. The statistics for normal distribution are not on
the empirical grounds and special fitness curve. The tendency of achievement is
related to the standardize educational test and techniques used in the
measurement of the normal distribution. The main output of representation shows
a fundamental process for the separate traits and abilities that can be
identified by different systems of education. On the basis of the present
research, it can be concluded that the characteristics of achievement are
different for individual students.
