The human body comes with
many complex systems, and each system has so many aspects to analyze and
understand. One of these complex systems is the ventilation system
of human body. In order to live, the human beings have to breathe and they live
until their breathing system is working. One of the important organs in the
ventilation system is lungs. Lungs are major organs in terms of respiratory
system, and they have a very important job to perform for the ventilation
process. When a human being breathes, the oxygen is taken in by lungs, and
carbon dioxide is expelled from the lungs through mouth or nose.
A normal ventilation
process allows a human being to breathe normally, but there are many medical
conditions, which make this process difficult for human beings and they face
problems in breathing. One of such problems is called hyperventilation.
In this condition what happens to humans is that they start breathing faster
than a normal breathing range. In this condition, the human body inhales less
oxygen, whereas more carbon dioxide is exhaled from the body, which disturbs
the overall balance as carbon dioxide in the body is reduced rapidly. The hyperventilation
can be occasional for some people, but when it occurs on frequent basis, it is
a medical issue, which needs to be looked at.
The other major issue
related to ventilation system is called Hypoxia. It is a condition,
where human body does not receive adequate and required level of oxygen supply,
which is needed at the tissue level. This issue can generally affect a particular
region of the human body, or whole body can also face its effects. There is one
more related term called Normoxia, which is different
from hypoxia. It is a condition, when oxygen level of supply to the human body
is at a normal level. For instance, in condition of hypoxia, the range for
oxygen is from 1 to 5% O2, whereas the supply range of oxygen is
between 10 to 21% O2 during the Normoxia. One other issue that lungs
may have is called Hemoptysis. If a person has lung cancer, he/she can have
this condition where from bronchi or lungs, the blood-stained mucus happens or
blood’s coughing up occurs. It is one of the critical medical conditions, where
patient has to face critical consequences.
