OCCI
or Oman Chamber of Commerce or Industry was developed in 1973, on 15th
of May as an organization of public utility that aims to protect, represent,
and regulate industrial and commercial interests in various sectors. In Muscat,
OCCI is headquartered, and it has its juristic influence and
personality. The objective of OCCI is to create the private sector of Oman and
make it a partner of sustainable development.
In various sectors of the Oman market, there is an overload of workers
because more and more workers are occupying the seats while the demand in the industry is not sufficient enough for keeping
all the employees facilitated. Overall, the supply is high, but the market
is deficient.
Rationale of Overload of Workers in
the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry
The issue of overloading of workers
might not be seen as a serious one but
with time, it not only grows but it also continues to harm the market. If a small enterprise hires various workers, but the demand is meeting the expectations, the
company will come to suffer. After all, it will cause the resources to be lost. Furthermore, the job seekers that
don’t get any entrance into the sector which they desire will have to find
alternatives.
This problem has occurred because expat workers are preferred over native employees of Oman. Almost in every sector
of the market, foreign employees are chosen to carry out the tasks because they
are generally more experienced and have related skills as well. Meanwhile, the
native workers are comparatively less
experienced due to which they are not
selected, and it causes them to
find other alternatives. This issue tends to increase the overload of workers
while the demand remains almost the same.
To
find the areas which are impacted by the issue of overloading of workers, the
analysis of cause and effect is used.
This analysis is also referred to as the fishbone diagram. Even though this analysis was used mainly for the improvement of quality,
it can also be useful in analyzing the
processes of an industry or enterprise through the determination of their
hindrances and causes, along with the ways how they can be improved. For
instance, the financial structure of a company is affected by an increment in the supply but a decrement in demand (Coccia, 2018).
Conclusion on Overload of Workers in
the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry
OCCI has the aim to create the private
sector of Oman while ensuring sustainable development. Enterprises in the
private sector seem to prefer expat workers over the native employees, and it becomes the root of a decrease in demand but an increment in the
supply. To solve this issue, cause and
effect analysis are used. It is also recommended that jobs should be secured for native workers rather than expat
workers.
