SWOT
Analysis is actually a reliable and useful tool for the identification of
Threats which the company is facing, Opportunities which are available to the
organization, Weaknesses that the firm has, and Strengths that the organization
seems to possess (Sarsby, 2016).
The SWOT
analysis of Ooredoo is as:
Strengths
Strong brand: Ooredoo
is quite a powerful brand and it has gained recognition in many countries. It
has a loyal customer base and its services are not confined to a specific place
or country. It is operating in many nations and successfully providing its
telecommunication services with a good internet experience. Considering the
fact that Ooredoo has the vision of making lives better, it has gained
recognition which is one of its strongest strengths in the market.
Large customer base:
Ooredoo is an international telecommunication organization that has gained its
place among the consumers by providing promising solutions in terms of
services. Understand the perception of customers, the company has delivered
effective telecom services which is the reason why it has a very large customer
base across nations. It is operating in different nations but it still has a
loyal customer base by providing what the competitors are unable to offer. An
organization gain customers if it is transparent with them and is offering
reliable services. Both of these strategies are adopted by Ooredoo and that is
the reason why it has a strong customer base on which it can rely (Yuece, 2012).
Leading networks 5G
and 4G: In the world of telecommunication, it
has very become significant to keep the customers updated with the latest
services like providing hyper-fast speeds of the services. With the prevalence
of the fourth generation or 4G, customers have been offered various features and
good internet speed. However, with the fifth generation or 5G networks, the
traffic and speed both are bound to increase. The demand of consumers in terms
of speed and features is very high which places a heavy burden on the
telecommunication organization. However, Ooredoo is dealing with it efficiently
and providing the services that consumers need. It is one of the reasons why
customers prefer this organization instead of others (Snelling, 2012).
Efficient in cost
optimization: Every telecommunication company is
facing a significant issue in the industry and it is all about high costs which
have to be invested in delivering the required capable services. For instance,
keeping up with the fifth generation of networks is not easy, especially in
terms of cost because new devices are required and the whole procedure is not
as affordable as it seems. Therefore, it is also very important to ensure that
the overhead costs are not overwhelming the company. Ooredoo ensures that the costs
are optimized in the best possible way and the profits in return are
substantial (Tar, 2013).
Weaknesses
Speed: As
the industry is moving towards more advancement and digitalization, it is
becoming more of a necessity to increase the speed of network. When it comes to
the fifth generation cellular networks, the speed has increased up to almost in
the rates of gigabytes and this speed is very tough to support. After all, the
technology required for supporting this is still being developed or is very
expensive to purchase. Customers at present require this speed and soon,
Ooredoo will have to provide such a speed in the cellular networks. At the
moment, the organization is unable to do so and that is why it is considered a
weakness. However, this weakness depends on the digitalization of the whole
industry. Therefore, it doesn’t pose a serious threat to the organization which
might make it considerable in this report.
Digitize Faster: It
can actually be said both the speed of cellular networks and faster
digitalization are interconnected and it is understandable that with the
digitalization, the telecommunication industry will be able to increase the
speed of the services that it is providing at the moment. 5G or Next Generation
communication has announced the next phase of the standards of the
telecommunications beyond the current mobile communication of fourth generation.
The system of fifth generation, after all, aims to achieve over ten gigabytes
per second which will be implemented within 2020. That is why it is important
for the company to solve the issue of digitalization for transmitting the data
through a wider bandwidth.
New entrants: Telecommunication
industry is quite a broad one and there is always a possibility that a new
company might emerge in the industry and pose a threat to the existing
companies. Even though Ooredoo has been leading the spectrum for a while now,
it is still a threat and a weakness that new entrants may disrupt the consumer
base of the organization.
Language barrier: It can be said
that language is a source of communication and connecting with others. For an
international company, it is even more significant to focus on the foreign
language so that consumers with that language can also be attracted by the
organization. For instance, if the audience of the organization also comprises
foreign individuals then it is significant for the company to not only be
proficient in that language but also convey it to the workers so that they can
target the customers and attract them. Most of the workers in the organization
are native and localities. It means that employees are unable to communicate
better when it comes to English language. They are not that proficient in the
foreign language and the organization is unable to hire the workers that are
not only capable but also skillful in English
