The concept of online education isn’t new. However technology used in
online education is evolving day by day. The concept of online education is
originated in England in late 18th century about 170 years ago. The teacher
used to send lectures via mail then students, after completing their
assignment, submits their answers through the same medium as was used by the
teacher. Online education has overcome many difficulties of actual classrooms
courses, students can interact with the teacher in real time. To be precise and
short virtual education (Langan, 1997).
There are countless benefits of virtual classes. The first and foremost
advantage is flexibility. Students can enroll in the courses that are suitable
for them according to their needs and time. Students now have the ease to
access their courses at any time suitable for them. In the beginning the main
disadvantage was the one way communication. Lectures were recorded and students
can’t ask questions. However this problem was solved as there are discussion
forums in each course and teachers also participate in those forums. It is a
big source of career advancement for the students. Students can learn different
skills that can enhance their skill set and make them more efficient acceptable
in the market (Michael, 2012).

E learning is so vast that can learn anything and everything. You can
select any course you want and can have certification in it and at flexible
timings. Another advantage is that these courses are cost efficient. Any
student can easily afford it. Interestingly most of the times they are free of
cost. This helps decreasing student loans. Studying online makes you more
determined, disciplined and more responsible. There is no pressure from the
teachers rather you are on your own and independent. (Fedrica
Origo, 2008)
It will ignite sense of
responsibility in a student. Another advantage is that we can choose course of
our interest. After learning from internet students can start any side gig
without disturbing much of their daily routine. Now a days every business is conducted
on internet so students can earn handsome amount of money without putting much
effort and time. So online learning has more advantages as compared to
traditional learning. As the trend is on rise so more qualified professors and
teachers are stepping in which is making e learning more efficient and popular.
In this era of technology, it is predicted that e learning will completely
replace traditional education system in near future due to its efficiency and
flexibility (Owens, 2010).
