Cultural Universals and Communication Structures across Cultures

Category: International Business Paper Type: Report Writing Reference: HARVARD Words: 550

A cultural universal is an aspect, model, attribute, or foundation that is widespread to all individual globalized cultures. Collectively, the entire body of cultural universals is known as the individual condition. The different of basic elements that may be considered cultural universals are sex roles, language, art, spiritual and remedial practice, myths, marriage, dance, harmony, cooking, sport, joke, sports, birth and death as they engage some kind of service ceremony associated with them.

Several sociological theorists that take a cultural relativist viewpoint may refuse the existence of cultural universals: the degree to which these universals are “cultural” in the contracted reason or in reality geologically innate activities is a subject matter of “nature against cultivating” (Ting & Toomey, 2018).

For example, the family unit is a kind of cultural universal: each society acknowledges a family arrangement that regulates reproduction and the concern of kids. However, how that family structure is described and how it operates, are different. For instance, in several Asian cultures, the members of the family from all age groups usually live jointly in one house. In such cultures, young individuals will go on to live in the extended family structure unless and until they get married and connect their spouse’s house, or they may stay and move up their central family within the extended family’s house. However, by contrasting, individuals in Canada are anticipated to depart home and live by themselves for a phase before starting a new family unit (Laukka & Eerola, 2013).

Now a day, the workplace is speedily becoming enormous, because the business environment widens to take in different geographic settings and reach various cultures. Though, the awareness of how to communicate efficiently with persons who articulate another foreign language, or who depend on various resources to reach a universal aim, can be quite difficult.

The modern technology and internet have released new markets that permit to endorse the businesses to the latest geographic settings and cultures. And agreed that it can now be as simple to work with distance based public the same as it is to work as live confronting each other, cross-cultural communication is progressively added the new standard.

Nevertheless, if communication is digital, it’s as simple to work with somebody in another nation as it is to work with somebody in the next city.

For the native English spokespersons, it is easy to communicate globally. Those native English speakers privileged that English appears to be the language that people utilize if they want to attain the widest potential spectators. Even though for native English spokespersons, cross-cultural communication may be a problem, just witness the reciprocated disbelief that can occasionally take place among the public from different English-speaking states. In the present world, effective cross-cultural communication is compulsory (Bowe & Martin, 2014).
