The first thing that will be done as a
project manager would be to create a project scope statement. In the project
scope statement, the key stakeholders of the project will be identified, such
as the IT experts, Client, Project supervisors, software engineers etc. In the
project scope statement, the specific objectives of the project will be
explained in detail. The project scope statement will also provide information
about the cost of the project. Creating the project budget is highly important
because for completing the project, a significant amount of funding is
required. It is important to know the income and expenses of the project. The
major cost of logistic management software includes recruitment cost, material
cost, salaries of the project team members and other administrative costs (Kerzner, 2009).
The Gantt chart will be created, which will
identify the duration of various project activities. the project team will make
sure that each project activity must be completed on time so that the project
can be delivered on time. The work breakdown structure will be developed, which
will provide a brief overview of the activities of the project. For instance,
in the planning phase, the project scope statement and project charter will be
created. In the project initiation phase, the project team actually start
developing the logistics software. In the testing phase, the project team tests
the software to know whether the software has any issue or not. If the software
is successfully tested, then the project team will implement the logistic
management software in the client’s business. The project team will consider
the aspects of sustainability in the project so that it won't have any major
impact on the environment (Morris & Pinto, 2010).
