It
is important to keep in mind that AI has been doing so many amazing things, and
it is more likely that AI will continue to transform the interactions of humans
& machines. AI has reached almost every part of the world, and India also
tastes AI in so many ways. Like any other country around the world, India is
making big strides towards the progress of AI technology so that it can reach
to the next level. One such evidence recently came, when India was ranked 3rd
on the list of countries, which are doing quality research on AI. The report
also revealed that in skill set of AI, the percentage for India was 46%, which
is just behind United States and China. The skill demands for AI are also
increasing in India like many other developed countries such as Germany and
United States. Different industries across India are incorporating AI in their
work processes so that they can take more benefits from it. IIT in Hyderabad
one step ahead in this progress as they have included AI in the syllabus, where
students across the country will learn more knowledge and skills about AI (Archana,
2019)
It
has been observed that in last few years, AI has been growing faster in India,
and trend is more likely to continue in this fashion. It is a fact that there
is a great future ahead with the essence of AI with so many opportunities in
India, but there are few associated risks as well. The AI has been adopted by
many industries across India and there is more potential to do so. The
agriculture, education and health sectors have adopted AI in their processes. AI
applications are also increasing with the passage of time, such as image
recognition, natural language processing, and business automation etc. The
other important thing is the support from government. Since 1990s, the boom of
IT industry has been an integral part of Indian economy, and it has taken more
space in last decade or so. In 2018, an announcement was made by the Indian
Administration that a national AI programme will be spearheaded by them to give
more support to this field. It has been observed that Indian government has
given considerable importance to the AI and they are considering it to be an
important part of their economic growth in the future. It is true that various
opportunities with a great future of AI is waiting for India, but not without
relevant risks and challenges. The experts strongly believe that incorporation
of AI is not as easy, as it may be in the West. For instance, it is believed
that when AI is implemented in India, the associated cost of failure as
compared to West can be much higher because required structure is not there (Bharadwaj,
2019)
