Just
as it has been explained above, philosophy is a way of thinking and it is also
present in the field of business. A business is an activity while an organization
is a systematic framework that operates on the objective of creating profits.
In the world today, business is normally conducted individually, in the form of
an entity or organization, and in the form of a corporation where various parties
collaborate to make profits. The field of philosophy is also present in the
business sector in the form of ethics.
Business
ethics is a very broad field and it has gained a lot of attention from not only
academicians but also business professionals. It is composed of ethical conduct
in the business which protects the integrity of not only colleagues but also
society. For instance, it means that a worker should not harass another junior
because it is ethically incorrect. In accordance with business ethics, there
are some standards which have been set by organizations in order to strengthen
ethics and ethical behavior of workers.
Actually,
employee behavior in the sector of business is considered very important now
because it has been determined to have a profound impact on the effectiveness
and success of an organization. The behavior of a worker or a manager has a
direct influence on the behavior of others. If the conduct of workers is not
ethically correct then it means that the organizational culture doesn’t promote
justice. When unethical conducts are preferred more than the ethical ones, the
focus of employees is not on organizational success but about their own
benefit. It tends to negatively affect the firm and its culture whereas the
culture affects all those workers who are new to it. Overall, an organization
promoting unethical behavior cannot achieve its objectives. That is the reason
why, a lot of attention is being paid to philosophy in the field of business (Carroll & Buchholtz, 2014).
