Essay on The Truman Show

            Truman in this movie is a man and the main character whose life is a fake one. He lives in a big studio where there are hidden cameras, and all of the people around him including his friends are actors just playing their roles. Truman doesn’t know that he is being exploited; he thinks he is just an ordinary man, until one day, Truman finds out everything. Jim Carrey (Truman Burbank) was living a normal life on the Island of Seahaven. Truman is gullible and oblivious to the truth of his life.

In the movie Truman wants to escape from seahaven to find answers. In the end of the movie Truman succeeded to escape and the         Truman show finally ends (Charisma 2018). Overall the movie depicts how the life of an individual is being controlled through manipulation. Determined to get answers, Truman shows that he's eager to die rather than come to his old life (Foster 2014).

        Eventually the obeisance of Truman’s boat cuts the sting of the set. As he arrive towards the huge EXIT sign, Christof suddenly begins chatting with Truman over the electronic equipment. . Truman show indicates the negative impact of the media and how manipulative strategies of media have surrounded us and there is no way we can escape from the media.

    After watching The Truman Show, I was amazed; I loved the camera shot, dialogue, music, performances, and direction. I came away from the movie feeling inspired that is the excellent filmmaking goal. The main character, Jim Carrey, did an outstanding job not making him too dramatic or too comic. After watching the movie it we can realize the reality of the media and how the media industry is working around the world.

    Many people in the world buy new cloths and want to be like the individuals which they saw on television. There are different types of media that is present in the world which includes radio, television, newspaper and billboard etc (Pope 2004).

    Different forms of media have surrounded the people and keep on attracting people attention so that media organizations can earn huge amount of money. Media try to give out news in such a way that it can grab the attention. Pessimism or negativity is being used as a tool to sell articles and grab public attention.

    The thing which need to consider here is that the media outlets does not relies that behind these news there are actual people who might be suffering from bad situation. However media does not realize that and use their situation to earn money or profit.

        Same case applies on the treatment of Truman as well because he was being treated as a lab rat. The Truman show is the example of how media showcase various things in order to gain profit. Truman show indicates the negative impact of the media and how manipulative strategies of media have surrounded us and there is no way we can escape from the media. In simple words it can be said the decisions of various people are influenced by media. From clothes to the music we listen media have significant impact on the life of people (MILLER 2018).

        If I analyze the movie I can say that it has resemblance with the book Utopia which is written by Thomas More. In the book More describe an island which has single entrance and single exit. The Utopia has significant amount of similarity with The Truman show because there is limited entrance into the world of Truman.

        In the movie only the negative impact of the media are highlighted instead of positive impact. There is no doubt that the media has negative influence on society however it is also true that there positive effects of the media as well should be consider. After watching the movie one can realize the dark side of media. However it is evident that there is positive side of media as well although it is not depicted in this movie. It would be not wrong to call this movie anti media and anti-religious (Foster 2014).

        Although The Truman Show seemed quite exciting and inspiring, I found the movie anti-religious to be unprovable and unfounded. The intent of a film looked anti-Christian and anti-media. Christof can be compared to some anti-Christ character or devil. The film looked more of pro-atheism rather than pro-Christian; the movie has placed religion in a terrible light. In the movie different religious analogies can be seen.

        The first is the character of Christof. His aim and personality can easily be compared with the devil or Lucifer. However the way Truman find way to the real world can be compared with life of an individual who gets help from God. God helps its people by telling them the truth and providing those things which makes them realize what is the right path (Pope 2004).

        In the movie Truman finds things in the basement which makes him believe that there is life outside seahaven. The movie is usually anti media and anti-Christian. The irony is that Christof thinks Truman’s world is a smaller amount artificial than our own. Nonetheless in Truman’s world, everything is pretentious, from the sun within the sky to the traffic reports on the radio to his relationship together with his ally.

        All the characters except United States President are skilled actors giving us pretentious emotions. Over that, they're actors acting in associate degree extended business.
