This is an ethical dilemma that is drawn from a well-founded basis, it is from
a parent, who is annoyed by her daughter,
and it can be seen that there have been a
lot of incidences, including the arrival of police on the house door and
damaging of marriage and bonds between the mother and father of the unfortunate
child. The child has an attitude and from the
looks of the essay or the ethical issue is stubborn. This is not healthy for a family, and the
parents practically want her out of her home
but are confined by law to support her eternally (Appiah 2019).
Facts and Information of the Dilemma
There has been a lot of tantrum while considering this child, for one,
this child is not the only child of the home, and hence her siblings have faced
her, and the situation is worsening. The
child has practically tortured her parents
and caused chaos not only in the home but
also in the neighbourhood and the
institution. The parents consider themselves underprepared
and close to retirement and are thinking
that they cannot support a third person to accompany them in their retirement.
Moreover, the expenditure of college is a huge burden as well. One more thing
is that the child is fully capable of working and can support herself if she
wants to.
Stakeholders of the Dilemma
There are a lot of stakeholders
involved in this ethical dilemma, and it
can be seen that the potential problem is
between the child and her parents, so they are the primary stakeholders, there
are other stakeholders as well, namely the siblings of the child who have also
suffered from this dilemma. Some other stakeholders are the management and the
faculty of the institution, and the neighbourhood
that experiences her wrath. Since the
parents are most affected by the child; there is more than one manner of their stake
involved. First, they bear the cost of
medication for the child. Second, they take all on themselves and their children; third, they are close to retirement and
should be preparing for retirement. Fourth, they cannot afford the future by
supporting this child as well and invite her to their fold. And fifth, her cost
of education is enormous and it is not paying out that well. Keeping all
these costs, the child that is being discussed
is a huge mental and financial burden
to both of them.
Impact to stakeholders with alternatives
The potential solutions are that
they throw away their child as she is consuming too many resources and giving a little in return, second is that they
keep the girl and keep feeding her. The third is the middle way; they keep the girl but also ask her to
contribute to the household fund if she wants to continue living with them.
Recommendation on the Dilemma
The recommended approach is the
middle one. It is recommended that they
create a pool and they ask the girl to
contribute her living expenses and something for the rest, this would make a
caring environment in the home.
