There is no doubt that cinema has
the capability to make people understand reality. It has the power to change
the ideology as well as perception of people in society. It is also true that
some of the filmmakers used movies to create propagandas, and few movies had no
intentions to create any propaganda, but somehow resulted in some sort of
propaganda. This paper is a comparative analysis of three movies, Triumph of
the Will, Prelude to War, and Casablanca. This analysis is made to analyze that
how these movies have impacted the ideologies, perceptions and thought process
of people and society.
The cinema is certainly changing
the way people used to think and react to different situations. The “Triumph of
the Will” is a famous propaganda film about Nazi Party rule in 1934. This movie
depicted 6 days of activities from arrival to departure of the Adolf Hitler's.
It comprises dialogues by the major contestants and also thousands of
activities about thousands of Nazi supporters who appeared during the events.
The “Prelude to War” is a certified
US Government film about World War II, defining the numerous Allies, enemies
etc, and what were the reasons to fight this wart. The movie “Casablanca” is
about pessimistic American expatriate fights to choose whether or not he must support
her fugitive husband and his previous lover escape French Morocco.
