Overall, it can no doubt be
stated that patriarch oppression and its system are the main players in
intimate relationship violence. Even in Hong Kong, the same thinking and the
same traditions have built the mentality that females are somehow weaker. In a
relationship which means that a man can harm a woman leisurely. If the past has
to be considered, the number of such cases was countless. There are also some
cases in which males were harmed by females rather than the other way around.
As the development began and new studies revealed the basic perceptions, the
same thinking changed. However, there are still some places and communities
which refuse to let go of the same values. . In patriarchal societies, the
common battering cases point toward men and women have no part as they are the
victims
In order to make sure that
intimate relationship violence is depleted completely, gender equality must be
created and patriarch system must be deformed (Propen and Schuster 2017).
