Category: Human Resource Management Paper Type: Report Writing Reference: CHICAGO Words: 800

It has already been discussed that role of HRM is getting crucial with the passage of time as business world is getting more dynamic and dealing with intense competition. So, it is important to look at one example from many that how companies can achieve success and competitive advantage through HRM policies and its alignment with their strategic goals. One of the considerable examples for this fact is FedEx Corporation. The company has been renowned for its great HR policies and practices, which makes it one of the best places for employees to work. The company has been able to develop an HR strategy, which not only helps them in achieving profitability, but productivity as well. Being a service company, it was important for FedEx to come up with a strategy, which helps them to become one of the best in their industry. Since its start in 1971, the company has understood that if they want to stand out in the competition, then they have to develop a work environment, which is great and flexible for employees, and helps its employees to understand their roles in achieving company’s objectives. From its beginning, the company believed in empowering employees with great HR policy so that employees can play their part in obtaining organizational success (Verasai, 2016)

FedEx has always believed in a positive HR policy, which is flexible for the employees and encourages them to do well. They came up with different programs to make sure their HR policy is aligned with their strategic goals, and they can reach the level of long term success by achieving competitive advantages through their great work force. One of their programs is named as Survey-Feedback-Action Program (SFA). This great feedback program was started in 1992 so that company can get valuable feedback from their employees to improve their HR and business policies, and take relevant critical decision keeping employees views in mind. This program proved to be a great initiative for them to attain organizational success at all levels. With the essence of such programs, FedEx is a great example of a successful company, who based its success on great HR policies and practices (Verasai, 2016). That’s why the company has been able to achieve good name around the world due to its great HR practices. One of the evidence is from China; when company was included in the list top 100 Best HRM Companies in China in 2012. It clearly shows that how HRM has been the focus of their strategic plan, and they have gained so much by being a best HR company (FedEx Newsroom, 2012)

A opinion can be made after reviewing so much information on HRM policies and their role in organizational success that HRM is one of the most crucial things for an organizations to be successful. There are certainly many other aspects as well like organization do have a great business idea or not, do they have enough resources and capital to keep the business on the right track, and are they capable enough to make products or services, which are attractive for customers, and keep them satisfied; all of above mentioned aspects have their own kind of importance, but above all, HRM practices and policies are the most significant. It is so because whatever the plan has been set, and whatever the mission and vision of the company is, they can’t achieve it without the help of people. So, when it comes to selecting right people for the right job, and makes sure that everyone is capable enough to fit in organization’s strategic role, and support any company to achieve that strategic objective. It has been proved that when a company is good in its HR policies and encourages as well as motivates its employees, then such company always remains ahead in the competition, because their employees always understand the core objectives of their company, and work with full commitment and dedication to achieve those core objectives. As one of the examples is given from such companies is the example of FedEx Corporations, who has been enjoying success because of its great HRM policies and practices since its beginning.
