Desk Study on an evaluation of the effectiveness of urban renewal under Urban Renewal Authority

        Project reports, plan and speeches made by the URA officials are studied and reviewed so that urban redevelopment in Kwun Tong could be explored, for example, the statement of Chairman of Urban Renewal Authority, Mr. Barry C. Cheung named "Achieving the Right Balance", an update of the regular project posted on the official website of URA.

Questionnaire on an evaluation of the effectiveness of urban renewal under Urban Renewal Authority

        A questionnaire-based survey was conducted to collect data. A total of 50 skilled practitioners representing different town planning’s disciplines, property development, and architectural design were invited to answer a questionnaire on the effectiveness of URA. All of the participants are building professionals, and around 90 percent of the respondents have worked in the construction industry for several years. The reason for selecting this party as target respondents is that they have been actively involved in several stages of urban (re)development. The identity of respondents cannot be disclosed due to ethical and privacy concerns. The questionnaire consisted of 10 close-ended questions and respondents were asked to rate each item.

Semi-structured Interview on an evaluation of the effectiveness of urban renewal under Urban Renewal Authority

    A qualitative semi-structured interview is conducted by the researcher from officers working with URA. The information collected through semi-structured interviews is entirely qualitative. The officers were asked to express their views about the development of urban renewal in Hong Kong. The data collected through interviews is interpreted to analyze the effectiveness of the Urban Renewal Authority.

Case Study on an evaluation of the effectiveness of urban renewal under Urban Renewal Authority

        This research has chosen redevelopment project in Kwun Tong Town center as a case study to analyze the effectiveness of URA in Hong Kong. The background, history, and timeline are briefly explained in the research. The Emerging Gentrification in Redevelopment and Development Design Concept of Kwun Tong Town Center Redevelopment Project is examined and discussed in this research.
