Volkswagen, one of the largest
and renowned German automobile companies in the world, and it can be expected
from such huge level corporations that they would set the example by leading
with ethical standards in their business. Especially, when it comes to environmental
issues, the role of automobile companies is crucial to make sure that they
follow set standards and play their part in developing vehicles, which produce
as less pollution as possible. That’s why companies have been trying to come up
with vehicles, which are more environments friendly. The emissions from
vehicles can be deadly for the safety of environment and these emissions can be
huge in spreading the pollution in the air. The countries all over the have
been working hard to come up with environmental protection laws and regulations
so that different industries like automobile industry can be regulated for
their emissions in the air (BANSAL, KING and SEIJTS 2015)
The countries have developed
various rules and regulations and they are regulated by relevant authorities. In
United States, the agency has been created to make sure that U.S environment is
safe enough with less amount of pollution in the air. The environmental
protection in United States is overviewed and regulated by The Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA). It is important to know that cars and other vehicles
emit nitrogen oxide in the air, which is very pollutant for the environment,
and it can have many serious issues as well. So, Environmental Protection
Agency in United States has been working hard to restrict the amount of
emission by vehicles so that environment is protected from any bad effects. The
standards set by EPA have been making life difficult for automakers to align
their business decisions with the new laws. But it is important to understand
that keeping climate change and global warming issues in mind, it is essential to
keep environment as clean as possible, otherwise whole world will have to face
the repercussions (Mansouri 2016)
