Introduction
of analyze the child`s behavior
The purpose of this
report is to analyze the child`s behavior through observation and interaction.
I have chosen this child as I have seen him twice when my colleague brought him
to our workplace, he seemed to be quite and afraid of strangers.
Firstly, close observation of 60 mins was done on the
child`s behavior. Secondly, I interacted with the child we were in his playroom
when I asked him a few questions about his school and toys. Lastly, I interviewed
the child`s mother Mrs. Ashy, I asked her about the child` s behavior, his
conduct in school and how he interacts with strangers and his friends.
Background
information of analyze the child`s behavior
The background information of the child will be he is
a 7 years old boy, who lives with his parents in House Building Development
block located at boon lay road. His neighborhood is in the prime area which is
always crowded with people and accessible to supermarkets, playground hawker
centers and primary school. He is the
only child and has no other siblings. His ethnic group would be Indian however,
he could also understand some Malay words according to his mother. He is
studying primary one in Boon Lay Primary School. His father is working in HSBC bank
and his mother is a Staff Nurse in SGH. The father has graduated from National
University of Singapore in Bachelor of accountant. Their relationship with
their relative is good. They have monthly gathering to catch up with each other
and allows the child to mix around with them.
Biological
factors of analyze the child`s behavior
I interacted
with Mrs. Ashy and understood more about the child. I had discussed with her on
some biological salient factors. Sam is 7 years old and is in a learning stage.
The parents need to interact with him and be involved in his learning process
together by doing so the child will be more interested to learn.
The child is an active child who loves to run
around in the house and playground. His sleep pattern is well defined by his
mother. He takes sleep of about 7 hours daily but at times he wakes up in the
night for milk or wants attention from his mother. His diet is also healthy and
he takes solid and liquid diet both on daily basis. He still uses bottle to
drink his milk in the night time, his mother is slowly training him to be
without bottled milk at night. He is involved in many physical activities at
home while playing with his mother or in the playground. He is also active in
school during his physical education. He like to play soccer on daily basis
with his friends in his neighborhood
His fine motors
skills are well developed he is able to pick up small objects like spoons or
tiny Lego pieces. On the other hand, his motor skills are also well developed,
he is able to use his muscles to carry things around and play soccer. He has
the ability to sit, stand and talk sentences. There is not such any serious
chronic illness can be seen in that child. His parents are also healthy and
they do not smoke. The child is cm and kg, which makes his BMI to be. This
is within the healthy range for him, overall this child is perfect has no disabilities
or motor dysfunction. All of these salient aspects of development
were discussed because these are related to the life development of a child. It
is important because through this any parent is able to guide his child in
proper way without any difficulty. According to the child that has been
analyzed for this research. He was perfect child without any defects. He was
good in studies and mental health. He has a normal weight, and he is without
any mental disorder.
On top of these other
factors to take note in relation to life course development will be the child
nutrition status. The parents need to focus on the child`s diet so that in
future there will be no problems related to their low weight and short height.
As for Sam, his mother has started the training when he demands milk in the
morning. She has tried to change his diet to sandwich and milo in the morning
as he needs to have a good breakfast before school. He used to refuse sandwich
in the beginning but after few weeks of training he had agreed on his
breakfast.
Psychological
factors
The
psychological factors that I have observed in the child are he is good in
English and Tamil language, able to speak well and form sentences when talking.
Both of his parents speak English quite frequently which helps him to learn
words and the language. He is a Primary one student who is coping well in his
studies he is able to form sentences, do his spelling test and mathematics well.
He has the ability to learn new things quite quickly according to her mother
and he is always excited to learn new things.
He has achieved
medals during his sports day and inter-class soccer competitions with a record
of achieving first position in the 50m race.
It is seen that
he is a shy boy, he feels difficulty to interact with any stranger but once he gets
comfortable with the person, he does not stop talking to them. He is a healthy
boy with good BMI and physical appearance. His eyes are beautiful with quite
innocent face. He is good with creativity skills he likes to create new shapes
out of his Lego piece and draws unique cartoon characters.
There are some psychological
factors to take note of. Children at the age of 7 years old are in the stage of
learning new things that they are not familiar with many other things. (Annaz, Campbell, Coleman, Milne, & Swettenham, 2012) They are small and
also unaware of many new things in the world; they are innocent by nature. Whatever
they watch in the movie or on the TV there will be a huge impact on their
personality. They always try to use this impact on their personality. For
example, if a child sees a cartoon where they learnt how to bully another
person. They tend to do the action in real life to their friend. Considering
this factors parents must always be aware of what the child is exposed into and
educate the child he is has done wrong. If factors like this are not corrected
from the early years this might affect how the child behaviors in the future.
Research has shown that there is a huge impact on the child`s social behavior
if the company of the children is bad or develops negative behaviors from
childhood. This will be a huge impact on their personality and also nature (Gabalda, Thompson, & Kaslow, 2010). On the other side,
if the company of the children is good. This means that there will be a
positive impact on their personality and also nature. This means that the
parents of the children must have to consider this psychological factor and
work on it.
According to the author
Fazel (Fazel, Reed, Panter-Brick, & Stein., 2012)Research has also
stated the important of the child emotional and stress level. Dealing with
stress and heavy emotion in a younger day will affect the child in the future.
They might develop anger management issues or even mental illness due to
unhealthy environments. This is why parents must make sure their children
always talk to them on a daily basis. Understand how their day went and how
they are feeling about school or any other event (Fazel, Reed, Panter-Brick, & Stein., 2012).
Social
factors
Define social
factor
The social
factors are those factors that are present in the environment of the person. (Eckenrode, et al., 2010) Social factor plays
an important oar in child development etc. ………………………………… social factor on the seven-year
child. If the social background of the parent is not much strong so there will
be huge impact on that child.
According
to my data collection Sam`s family background is quite strong he has dual
parents his father age is about 31 year and his mother age is 28. He belongs to Indian family, his ethnic group
would be Indian. However, he is able to understand some Malay words. His father
is working in HSBC bank and his mother is working as Staff Nurse in SGH. His
father is graduated from National University of Singapore. Overall, he belongs
to middle class family.
His parents
make it a point to gather with their cousins and relatives at least twice a
month to keep in touch. They usually have gathering at beach to play game and
have chit chat session. He has four cousins, one from his mother and 3 from his
father. The age group of his cousins range from one to ten years old. His
mother’s parents are still around, while his fathers’ side only his grandmother
is around. He is studying in Boon Lay primary school. His neighborhood is in
the prime area which is always crowded with people and accessible to
supermarkets, playground hawker centers and primary school.
There are many social
factors that are present in the children, the first important social factor is
the demographic factor of the family. It can be said that if the children are
born in a rich family, so its social behavior is extraordinary special. On the
other side those children that belong to the poor family so that their confidence
is affected in a great amount (Durkee, et al., 2012).
There is also some social
impact on the body language of the person; this is because if their parents use
bad language while talking with someone this will be a huge impact on the
personality of the social behavior of the children. (Durkee, et al., 2012)
The next important social
factor is the education system of the school. This means that if one child is
studying in a private school so that their social behavior is positive and they
are more confident as compared with that child who is studying in the public
sector. The results of the studies show that these students are less reliable
and imperfect than those students that are studying in the private sector. The
next social impact on children is the residential area of the student. The
research shows that if the child is living in the urban area, so there will be an
extremely positive impact on the nature of the children and also on the health
of that child. On the other hand, a child that lives in a rural area his
personality as compared with the urban child is quite weak and feasible. He is
also weak in communicating with the other person with confident. This
residential factor is one of the most important factors in the personality of
the children (Bernier, Carlson, Deschênes, & Matte‐Gagne, 2012).
Prediction
for next five year (200 words)
There are many important predictions for such a child
for the next five years. If the age of the child is now 7 years so after five
years, he will be 12 years old. He would be in Primary six. That would be a
important year for him. As that final year will determine which secondary
school he will be entering into. Upon my own option after interacting with him
I believe he has good habits and is a kind boy. With this I believe he would be
having a good relationship with his friends in school and he would be
responsible for his studies. He would be putting his time to good use to study
for his final exams. In five years’ time he might be in the age where he would
be mixing with his friends more than spending them at home. (Gabalda, Thompson, & Kaslow, 2010)I believe he would be
actively participating in school Co-curriculum activities such as soccer. He
has mentioned that he likes soccer and he would want to join that in his school
when he reached primary three.
In the growing stage of his life, so there may be some
biological factors, Psychological factors and some social factors can be seen
in their personality. The reason is that in the future five years he can face
many faces in his life. I can say that he belongs to a good family and he is
the only child in the family. Due to such condition, the next five years will
be perfect in his life, and he will be a creative person in his life. This is
because his base is extremely strong and perfect.
Conclusion
on analyze the child`s behavior
Life course human development is
very important for conducting research. For that you must have to identify each
and very factor of the child. Through this the person is able to analyze each
factor of the child, and according to that his parents can teach them properly.
During my experience I
have seen many new things in the child during observation. That child was quite
active and respond to my questions in quite efficient way. I have seen these
factors in his personality, he is creative person and with a lot of good
habits. His parents are quite loyal during his development period.
There are some strength
and limitation of this case study. The major strength of life course human
development is that through this course, the parents are able to develop their
child in a perfect way. Also if there are some biological factors,
Psychological factors and social factors present in a child that can be solved
through this course. There is only one limitation, and that is accurate results
are not obtained because the nature of the child will never be the same always.

Appendix
B
I interacted with a child
named Sam. He was 7 years old and had no siblings. He belongs to a middle-class
family. I have taken some time from his parents, and then according to that, I
interact with him. According to my opinion, he was reserved and shy child for
the stranger. I have to become friends with that child so that I can easily
calculate the required data from this. According to the nature of the child, I
have to visualize his actions in detail deeply. He is a seven-year-old kid, so
according to his age, I have to interact with him and collect the required
data. The first particular activity, I have chosen to interact with him is
talking with him about himself. Through the help of this interaction, I am able
to understand the child better. I asked some question from him about himself
and his personal activities and hobbies. After asking the questions from him,
we went to his playing room. In that playroom, I have seen many new things in
that room, new special toys and some Lego toys. I can judge that most of the
toys were not related to his age. Then after this, I asked him about his books
and also his bag. He showed me his bag and school diary, his diary was neatly
written and nicely wrap in cover. From this I can judge that he is an organized
boy.. The toy room was basically the reflection of his creative ideas filled
with his creative artworks, color combinations of wall and neatly arranged
toys. I can say that he is a creative person. His creativity is at his peak. I
have spent valuable time with that child; he was a well-mannered child with
good habits.
The activities that I was engaged with is talking,
playing and asking a question about his school and its environment.
The respond of that child was quite amazing; he was
quite familiar with me in the end. In the start of the interaction, he was
quite shy. He was just being silent and quite, he was just replying formally to
my questions. Then after some time, he becomes a friend of mind and slowly
become talkative.
I have found some important results from the
questionnaire that has given in the above scenario. There is proper mentioning
about the age of the person and according to that question is designed. Then
after this, the best part of this questionnaire is that it based on quantity.
The more data about the child the more information can be extracted from their
behavior. This questionnaire completely based on those questions that are
related to small children under the age of ten. I have learned one of the most
important features about that child is that if the parents of the child is
involved in perfect fostering of their child. He can easily refrain from other
mental problems. He was a single child of their parents. But his parents gave
him good taught that will become a reflection of his personality.
