After reviewing above three research
articles, one thing was evident in all of them that JIT system has the
capability and capacity to improve manufacturing process along with
organizational performance, regardless of their size. The articles looked at
small and mediums sized organizations as well along with large ones like Toyota
that how JIT system proved to be a great tool to enhance performance of manufacturing
process. I liked the approach of two articles to review JIT system with regards
to small and medium organizations. It is always important to cover all facets
of an industry rather juts looking at large organizations. If an overall
manufacturing industry has to perform well with good numbers, then all kind of
firms have to be at their best by utilizing JIT system. These articles are providing
great explanation for companies to consider using JIT system in their
manufacturing process, if they are facing any issues, or even if they are not
facing any considerable issues.
The other great thing about these
articles is their relevancy to the operations management. These articles were
talking about JIT system implementation in manufacturing process, and manufacturing
process is the one, which is directly part of the operations management. If a
company wants to improve overall performance of its operations management and
keep things on right track, then it is strongly recommended that those
companies should adopt JIT approach in their operations management. It is recommended
to get benefits from JIT system, which it can provide firms with regards to
their manufacturing process. It is also recommended that firms, which do not
have capacity to adopt JIT system, then they should work on this as quickly as
possible, and adopt JIT system, as its implementation in manufacturing process
will not only get them organizational gains, but considerable financial gains
as well. It is recommended for further research articles to review that is
there can cases where companies were failed to apply JIT, and what were the
reasons behind those failures.
Conclusion of Just in Time
(JIT) Manufacturing
It can be concluded that JIT system
is very crucial as well as beneficial one for the manufacturing processes of
large, medium and small firms. If firms are having issues in their operations
management, and their manufacturing process is not meeting their needs, then
JIT system is a serious consideration for such firms, because it will not only
eliminate wastes from their production process, but it will drastically improve
their overall manufacturing process. The firms can look at research articles
hand studies to review that how other firms benefited from JIT by implementing it
successfully, and how they can integrate it in their operations management
system.
