Human
resource management is key aspect for every business organization, and if it is
not managed well, then situation can get worst for them. This is what is being
discussed in this article that there are five myths about human resource
management, and it is important for organizations to beware of these myths. Out
of these five myths, one is quite interesting that all type of training is beneficial.
Training is universally considered an important element for the organizations
to remain competitive. But it has proved by the research that all kind of
training will not always be productive or beneficial. The organizations should
understand that they have to measure their trainings with relevant aspects that
which kind of training would be beneficial for certain group of employees. The
second myth for HRM is considering GPA as a predictor for high level of
employee performance, which means that a candidate with high academic GPA would
be a high level performer, but it does not stand true in real world situations.
The financial incentives are good
source of driving employees’ performance; this is another myth regarding HRM. It
is true that money can motivate employees, but it is not true for all
situations. Sometimes, other kind of compensations and incentives may be
considered more important by employees instead of financial incentives. The
other myth is that when organizations are looking for talented managers, then experience
is the first priority. But there is no scientific evidence to prove this true. The
organizations need to analyze well that what kind of talent is needed for senior
management including various aspects other than experience. The fifth myth is
considering HRM and HCM as a same concept, whereas they are different. Organizations
need to understand these myths to avoid unrealistic expectations [1]
