Embarking on the exploration into
identity and bullying is like jumping into a deep and wide pool of experiences
of individuals and using the several waves and swirls as the manual of instruction
as I tried to learn how second language speaker is being bullied in foreign
countries. Bullying today has become a serious academic as well as the personal
and social problem that affects various people causing extensive concern owing
to the quick spread, this is the reason that it should be immediately combated.
There are various issues regarding language barrier that a foreigner face in
some country where the culture and everything else is also different. Mostly
foreigner experienced the language shock and there is only one option left that
stays there and deal with it as there is
no escape. Language is essential for every type of communication, even some
person who has speech impairments try his or her best to communicate with brail
and sign language. Communication is not easy in the situations the language of
each other is not understandable for two people [1].
Language barrier to the communication
is basically an inability of some person to communicate using some particular
language. One of the most common communication barriers is language barriers that
cause misinterpretations and misunderstandings between people, even cause the
bullying. In the world, there are so many people who do not speak English or
cannot speak English, even if they speak English, they speak it as a second or
third language. The communication has no meaning if the receiver and speaker do
not use the same words and language [2].
Communication is made ineffective if the language or words are not
understandable for the person and the message is prevented from being conveyed.
However, no one has the right to bully someone just because he or she speaks
some other language and it is not apt to make someone feel isolated just
because he or she is not good at speaking English [3].
The main purpose of this paper is to show how miscommunication or insufficient communication
can be an important cause of bullying or racism. The research is relevant to
people living in a western country and not expert in the English language.
