Block Puzzle Plus is considered
an interesting mobile application based on an individual’s strategic
development. In this game, the game is all about maintaining the space as the
game progresses. Automatically, when a block is set into the given space which
is in the form of empty box with several blocks, a new block is added at the
bottom. From such blocks, another one can be chosen and thus put into the
place. The given space above the blocks is actually limited and it cannot
expand by adding many blocks. It is difficult to maintain sufficient spaces for
the block to be set as the shapes of blocks vary from horizontal to vertical to
arbitrary. Additionally, they vary in size as well as there are some blocks
which comprise of only a single joint while there are some blocks which support
more joints. It can be said that the whole game revolves around blocks and how
to fit them all until the end.
Background of Block Puzzle Plus
Block Puzzle Plus is considered
quite popular when it comes to two dimensional mobile phone games. The game is
not limited to only a specific version of mobile software i.e. Android and iOS.
The game can be run on both types of versions. The simplistic behavior of game
is what makes it attractive and interesting to play. The control method is
simple and even children can easily understand how to play the game and spend
time on it. Although the control method is very simple as it is all about
picking the blocks and adjusting them in the space above but it is very
difficult to perfect the technique. Only by fitting the blocks in the space,
points can be earned. Types of blocks are not fixed as they vary with the
passage of time.
By adjusting the blocks in right
places, points can be earned. As the time passes and more blocks are adjusted,
a line whether it is horizontal or vertical, it vanishes in twinkles giving
more points once a whole line is made of blocks. Once such a progress is being
consistent, the points increase the level is cleared and next level arrives. The
player has to make sure that all blocks are being adjusted into accurate places
so that sufficient space is left for other spaces as well. For instance, if
there is a block compromising of five sub-blocks in a horizontal direction then
it should be placed in the corner of down-left side.
This way, it will give enough
space for other blocks. If the player is consecutively adjusting blocks without
minding the space, it would use almost all of the space leaving not a
sufficient space for other blocks and it would end the game. As the game
progresses, new levels are unlocked and with every stage, the difficult of game
rises and it gives a tough time to players.
Learning through the game of
Block Puzzle Plus
For a long time now, the field of
education has been studied in terms of education. It has been thoroughly
studied just how education can be promoted through different activities. For
improving knowledge, it has been suggested by some researchers that problem-based
learning is the best and that is what Block Puzzle Plus is all about (Takeuchi & Vaala, 2014).
However, it has also been
suggested that fun must be included to improve knowledge in such a way that
users are not bored and their tactical skills are increasing gradually. Thus by
combining both fun and problem-based learning, a new way strategy is used which
is adopted in this game. Through games, users are provided with a fun
atmosphere that combines visual, physical, and audio activity. By completing
different objectives, the interactivity of user increases with the game. It has
been proven that problem-based learning plays an important role in the
strategic skills of users (Tobias, Fletcher, & Wind, 2014).
In Block Puzzle Plus, there are
countless variations of how the game can progress. Every block has a different
pattern and the spaces have different areas. This way, the flow of game is
different with every move and it tests the strategic strength of users. Through
this game, different patterns for the same move are analyzed and it gives the
user a power to adopt various perceptions about the same thing. Since there is
no time limit, the player can think without having to worry about the time and
use the mind-power to play in the best possible way (Pho & Dinscore, 2015).
Level Analysis of Block Puzzle
Plus
At the beginning of game, the
Block Puzzle Plus starts with Level 1 which is considered the most basic
challenge and there is a tutorial available as well for beginners. There are
basically two modes in the game. First one is Classic and the second one is Survival.
When a level begins, there are three different styles of blocks at the bottom
and through adjusting them in the above space; more blocks come at the bottom.
By adjusting blocks, points are
earned and with every block, there are points. Regardless of the position of
blocks, points are earned and with every point earned, the total amount
increases. Once a line of blocks is blocked whether it is vertical or horizontal,
it is cleared and empty space is left in its position and points are earned
more. With such a consistent earning, a continuous growth of points is kept
which clears the level and the next level arrives. When a whole line of blocks
is cleared, more points are earned than through an individual block are earned.
Conclusion of Block Puzzle Plus
Overall, Block Puzzle Plus is an
interesting game and increases the strategic strength of user (Loyens, Kirschner, & Paas, 2010). It is easy to
operate and doesn’t take a toll on the performance of a mobile phone. For the
game, a challenge concerns the competition. There are many block styles
problem-solving games which are available online. It is important to ensure
that this game is better than them by improving the responsiveness of games and
making sure that there are not many advertisements. Another issue concerns the
slow-conduct of controller of blocks. Its responsiveness is not as efficient as
it should be as it makes the process of adjusting blocks difficult in their
accurate places and proceeding with the game.
