Roles and Activities of Organizations in Ensuring Patient Safety and Quality

        Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality and can be identified as the most important organizations that are working for patient safety. The mission and purpose of the organization are to improve the quality management system in the healthcare centers by providing information and knowledge about better care systems through videos.

        The Institute for safe medication practice is also working for the safety of patients in hospitals, healthcare centers and at home. The mission of the organization is to provide a safer world by preventing errors in the medications system. For the accomplishment this purpose and mission they organize workshops and provide training also.

        Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality was established in 2001 with the mission to ensure patients safety in the United States. US Congress was the principal organizer in the development of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.

        The Institute for safe medication practice was established more than 30 years ago in Canada as a non-profit organization. The institute was introduced in the healthcare system with the collaboration of the Canadian Institute for health information to collect reports from health practitioners, analyze the reports and incidents and disseminate preventative methods.

        The activities of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality are aligned with the mission statement as the mission was to ensure patients safety through spreading awareness and they are providing videos to directly communicate on the patient's safety issues.

        The mission of the ISMP was to eliminate the errors in the medication to enhance the patient's safety. The organizational activities are aligned with the mission as their major activities are to publish and distribute newsletters (with information about the real-time error) and they also organize educational programs in the institutes for the guideline.

        ISMP provides lifetime achievement award and cheers award in the healthcare field because of the strong contribution of the new institute and individuals who ensure patient’s safety. However because of their activities and efforts Agency for healthcare research and quality certified ISMP as PSO (Patient safety organization).

    Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality is working in the patient’s safety field from more than 20 years. The great achievement of the organization is that during these years they provided training in more than 200 programs and there are more than 100000 professionals working in the healthcare field that are trained by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality [2]. Thus because of their training programs healthcare system is getting improvement and now the medical staff is aware of how to treat the patients in a better way and how to enhance patient's safety.
