As an HR manager, a set of guidelines is developed for the
managers of the organization that would explain what managers can say and
cannot say when employees raised the question in front of them about joining
the unions. At the first, In case they are questioned about the union they
should say that organization wants to remain free from the unions but anyhow if
employees are facing issues they can discuss and negotiate their problems with
the Human Resources managers of the organization [1]. While if employee
want to join unions they can join and they will not have pressure from the
management of the organization (as joining the union for the protection of the
employee’s right is not an illegal step). However, they can also inform the
employees about the rules and regulation developed by the organization for
absenteeism and strikes. While managers should not say that they will replace
them or fire them if employees will join the unions. In fact, managers should remain
neutral they should not force the employees for joining the union or not
joining the union as it should be decided by the employees. Managers should
answer the employees according to the policies of the organization.
