Electric Motor are basically being in use to operate the
generators, Blowers, compressors, pumps, and Fans through converting the
electrical energy in the form of mechanical energy for the machines. In the
present age application of the electric motors is not limited to the few
industrial functions only but in fact electric motors are in almost in all
areas of the life. In the industrial processes, agricultural functions and in
our houses electric motors are currently working.
Basic Principles of Electric Motor
There are several simple but major scientific principals
according to which electric motors operates and do functions. Basically
electric motors works when current given to the motor develop magnetic field.
While in response to the medical field electric motor creates electric current
during passing through the conductors. In the electric motors operations there
are two main types of magnetic poles that are like magnetic poles that has
quality of repelling and the un-like (second type magnetic Poles) attract the
other sides of the magnetic poles.
Here image (see figure 1) of magnetic field is presented
below that elaborate the functions of conductor and both magnetic poles. In the
electric motor operations we can easily identify the speed of electric motor,
and its horsepower through the calculations. Dividing the frequency by the
number of poles can present the overall speed of the electric motor in the
operations.
Classification of Electric Motor
Electric motors can be further classified in the two major
types Direct Current Motors (DC motors) and Alternating Current Motors (AC
motors). Conductors in the Direct Current Motors placed between the both
magnetic poles help in transmitting the current between the armature and power
source. While in the direct current motors electricity passing through the
conductors create more magnetic field in original forces lines of the motor and
works as the electromagnet. The forces on the various poles of the magnetic
fields determine in which direction and axis of rotation the wire loop
conductor and other parts of the DC motor will move and rotate.
The second major type of the electric motor is alternating
current motor that has some functions quite opposite to the Direct current
motor. For instance, DC motor can directly run to the rotor but alternating
current motor cannot. Opposite to this AC motors flows and works into the
stators. How the AC motors functions and how AC motors response to the magnetic
fields is presented below in the image:
In the above-mentioned figure 2 AC motor functioning is
presented according to which stators in the alternating current motors (AC
motors) generates the electric current in the artificial manner with the
purpose of creating the magnetic field from the passing current. In the
Alternating current motors rotor gets directions and rotates when there comes
interaction of the both magnetic fields. In the above image magnetic field is
shown just above and below the rotor.
AC Induction Motor
Parts
There are almost more than 20 parts of the induction motor
has been shown through the help of diagram. There are some major parts and also
some minor parts of the induction motor. The major parts of the induction motor
that include shaft, output shaft, Rotor, wound stator and end shield. There are
also some minor parts that include Grease Outlet, bearing, insulation, OR seal,

This is located on every electric motor and it contains all
the basic information about the electric motor. The information on the electric
motor is according to the NEMA standards. On the number plate of the eclectic
motor there is information about the voltages on which this motor will operate.
Information about the input frequency on which the motor is operating. On the
electric motor there is Information about the phases, the current rating of the
electric motor, and information about the power factor, information about the
horsepower of the motor with full load speed, efficiency percentage and with
efficiency label. There is also information about the frame, enclosure and also
the bearing and grease information.
P&ID symbols
There is information about the P and ID symbols that
includes motor, generator, AC motor, gear, AC generator, Motor generator, Step
