Scientists Nicholas Christakis
and James Fowler spent many years of their life for looking at the social
networks and studying about the social, mathematical, physiological as well as
biological rules which oversee that how all these networks are being assembled
and how these networks are affecting our lives. This idea came up in his mind
through studying about the network structures in which human lives.
After studying about all this,
through results it was depicted that all these social networks can predict
about a disease known as Epidemics, just like H1N1 virus which is responsible
for the spreading of social contagions which further creates the disease
epidemics of social behavior as well as thinking.
Christakis started a new period
in which he refers to the Computational Social Science which includes the idea
that the spreading of epidemics is due to a reason known as social networks
which all of them have a unique structure. Through the mapping process,
collection of data and then their analyzing helped us to recognize about the
social processes and their sensations which would have not been possible if
both the scientists have not done all the part.
Due to the efforts of Christakis
we are in an era where we have endless opportunities for the collection of data
about the population of whole world with the help of different digital
activities. With the help of data science programs all the information can be
used for the understanding of social activity and their intervene for the
creation of optimal outcomes.
A social scientist and a
physician, Christakis is a professor whose field is medicine, sociology and
health care policy at Harvard. So with his endless efforts with his colleague
he helped people to make them aware about disease epidemics. No one would be
aware of it if he have not done any of the effort in collecting data and then
analyzing it.
