Category: Arts & Education Paper Type: Essay Writing Reference: IEEE Words: 1100

First of all let’s have a look at environmental health that what basically it is? Environment can in one way or the other, directly or indirectly can affect our health. Environmental health is the factor that examines the connection among the environment and our health.

Environmental Health:

This term refers to the different aspects of the human health which includes the quality of life, that are being determined by chemical, physical along with the physiological factors which are already a part of the environment.

The definition of the environmental health varies from form one organization to the other.

Many people ask that how environment plays a vital role in keeping a person fit and healthy. How does it plays an important role in our lives? Everyone around us needs a healthy, safe and supportive environment for the maintenance of a good health [1]. Our lives are totally depending on the environment not only for energy but for the materials as well that are needed to sustain a life which includes:

Clean air

Nutrias food

Safe places to live

Drinking clean water

All the above mentioned factors are very important for a person to live a healthy and disease free life. Among all drinking clean water is the most important one. We all know that water is the major necessity in everyone’s life and one can’t imagine living just a single day without having a glass of water. That glass of water should be clean enough because if it’s not clean it can cause serious health issues. Out of the many dilemmas that are being faced these days regarding global health access to safe water is one of the top priorities for the insurance of health equity around the whole world.

According to the studies being conducted almost two billion people in the whole world use and drink a water source that is being contaminated with the feces and other garbage and rest of the 844 million people don’t get enough of the clean water for drinking and they completely rely on the surface water to fulfil their basic needs and thirst need as well.

Every individual should have an access to safe water not just because it’s their right which has been given by the society but it is a basic demand or necessity to the health. There is a huge list of diseases that are taking place due to the drinking of unsafe and contaminated water not only in children but in the adults and aged people as well that have very major effect on the health of the people. List of the diseases are:

Guinea worm disease

Polio

Cholera

Diarrhea

Dysentery

For example a disease known as Guinea worm disease which has been mentioned above is not a typically deadly disease but it causes many other symptoms like pain, disability and can make a person debilitate for almost two months. Then comes another disease which is very common known as Diarrhea, this disease can be very severe and it cause lose motions and due to which all the water from the body gets drained away and person becomes lazy and lethargic. People consider it very common disease and don’t take any action against it but it can be deadly and it is also occurring in the people due to the drinking of contaminated water which people neglect it so easily.

To make people aware about all the diseases and to guide them that drinking of safe water is very important Government should take serious actions about it. Surveys and seminars should be given to the people to make them well aware [1]. Only education is not enough to teach them that drinking of safe water is a must thing but along with this, there should be an access of safe water as well which people can drink. It is not an easy task and requires a lot of effort and funding. Filters should be made at different areas for the ease of people and all this responsibility doesn’t lies on the shoulders of government but common people should also be a part of this act.

Benefits of drinking safe and uncontaminated water are numerous which are not restricted towards the health but for economy and education as well. People who drink water are more active in their regular lives and leading a healthy and happy life. They are not a victim of common yet deadly diseases.

Vaccines are also being given which have already saved round about three million people each year and the ratio goes on and on. All the vaccines are available for the diseases like polio, mumps, rubella and so one but still these diseases occur. Using vaccines through proper steps is another very important task in the insurance of Global Health Equity [2]. Funds should be given and Government should take a serious action about all this before it gets too late and then we won’t be able to fix anything.

One third population of this world lives in an area which are putting those people to risk for a disease known as vector borne illness which is related with the bite of mosquito. This disease is often curable when treatment is being given to the patients on time and all the steps are being followed. Many diseases like Malaria, zika and dengue are effecting a huge amount of population each year.

At the end drinking of safe water, giving proper vaccines and vector control have saved the lives of many thousands of the people and the number can increase in future if the effort goes on and on in the same way. If we start working as an individual and the individual makes the group then no matter what barriers come in the way or the challenges we face, change in the whole world can be seen and we can make a difference.
