Category: Arts & Education Paper Type: Essay Writing Reference: IEEE Words: 600

Now-a-days horror movies have become an important part of life not only for teenagers but children as well. The signature point about scary movies is that they offer a rise in blood rate and make the breathing rapid. Whether it is about watching them with the family or with friends, effects remain the same. It is quite normal about such movies but children feel a lot more than just a rapid heartbeat and adrenaline.

Children are learning for almost every second in their immature age. They have yet to make ideals and yet to get the experience of the reality. Since they don’t have that much experience, horror movies affect them more. The effects caused by scary movies are not visible because they affect the psychology. Sometimes the effects change only the behaviors and sometimes, they can create disorders as well. It is not tough to realize that horror movies are indeed harmful for children.

In children, the power to store something in their memory is quite effective. They are able to remember for very long times and that is why learning of children starts at a very young age. When children watch horror movies, the horrific and gory scenes keep replaying in their mind and it alters how they really feel and think. [1]

Horror movies do not affect mature people more than children because they already have the experience of world and know how to differentiate between fiction and reality. Without the experience of world, it is quite easy to mold the perception of a person. Children often are confused whether to think about something from the perception of a horrific fiction or the reality. They are unable to develop a proper perception and it develops anxiety and fear in them. A normal example is a about a brave kid fearing to go in a dark place after watching a scary movie.

It is common to face difficulties while sleeping after watching a gory or scary movie even for adults. Children are unable to sleep because the shadows in their rooms are threatening them and the sounds are echoing in their minds. If they are successful in sleeping, their dreams contain scenes that are quite similar to the content that they watched. Mature people only face such a difficult for a little while. However, children continue to have problems while sleeping. They continuously get sleep tremors. It is all due to horror movies.

Every school has some children who act a little odd than most of the children. They are unable to focus on their studies and get angry or nervous all of a sudden. Such behaviors are mostly due to the horror movies and other violent programs that they watch. Since children don’t understand that they cannot act according to the perception of a movie, they do what is considered odd. For parents, it is important to make their children watch only the right content and if teachers observe such behaviors, they should consult the parents. [2]
