Personal & Professional Development Plan

            It is important to set some aims and objectives and target them with a specific development plan, which allows a person to achieve those targets in a given time frame. In terms of my personal and professional journey in life, I am looking to describe a comprehensive short term and long term development plan. This plan will elaborate that what I am looking to accomplish in the next five years, particularly in my professional career. However, personal development will also be a part of the long term plan, because I believe that personal development is as crucial, as professional development is. So, the next part of this paper will elaborate both short term and long term development plan.

Short Term Development Plan (1-2 Years)

            Here are some key components of my short term development plan, which are looking to provide a roadmap for the next 1 to 2 years:

1. Needs to get an MBA degree

            I have identified an important need for myself to get an MBA degree to pursue a career in the business field. It is a kind of need, which is important for my personal and professional future because I must admit that I am very fond of the business field and its relevant concepts. So, personally, it is my urge to understand more about business administration. Secondly, I want to pursue my career in this field, so an MBA degree will be crucial to boosting my professional career path. I am also planning to do Ph.D. in the business administration field because I want to inspire others about this wonderful field of study. I want to play my part in enhancing the level of a business field with various new dynamics. 

2. Objectives of Personal & Professional Development

            I am going for this MBA degree because I have certain objectives in my mind. The most important objective is to pursue my professional career and provide it a boost with an MBA degree. Moreover, my ultimate objective is to complete my Ph.D. in this field and help others to understand the dynamics of this wonderful field of study. I want to be a teacher and trainer, who help students as well as professionals to get a clear idea of business administration.

3. Skills of Personal & Professional Development

            I am doing an MBA degree to enhance my leadership, business, and critical thinking skills. I want to have enough knowledge that I can later transfer to others with its true meaning. I want to gain training skills, which makes me perfect in future as a trainer and a teacher, who support people to get their vision clear and get rid of any confusion, which they will have regarding business administration field. The Ph.D. will help me to become a great researcher and critical thinker to think out of the box and look at different aspects with a critical eye.

4. Timing to complete my MBA degree

            I am well known to the fact that time is money. It means that timing is very important for what you do in life. People often take the right steps, but they miss the train due to bad timings, and others succeed because they have taken steps in time. So, I am hoping to complete my MBA degree within two years so that I can further pursue my Ph.D. quickly in this field as Ph.D. program can take some time to get completed. So, the first step in this regard is to complete my MBA degree in the coming two years.

5. Measurement of Development Plan

            I believe it is hard to set measurement criteria for my objectives. I think that personal fulfillment and feeling of achievement is a key indicator for my satisfaction that I have achieved, what I wanted to achieve. The one measure of my success would be to become a professional trainer as well as a teacher in the business administration field, who gets a job in the reputed educational institution and also gets an offer to train employees from renowned business organizations.

Long Term Development Plan (3-5 Years)

            Once I established my short term development plan with its key elements, now it is time to expand my development plan and talk about long term elements of this development plan:

1. Needs of short term plan

            In short term plan, I have outlined my basic needs, which I have identified for my future development plan. On top of the list is the MBA degree. I want to get an MBA degree for various reasons. One of the major reasons is that I like the business field and its relevant studies, and I believe that an MBA degree is the most relevant one with this field of study. This degree has so many aspects of studying and each aspect is critical in understanding the dynamics of contemporary businesses. I want to become an MBA professional, who has extensive knowledge of this field. That's why I want to dig deep with this field of study by planning to pursue a Ph.D. after completing my MBA.

I would select one area of business administration and will continue my Ph.D. thesis on that particular topic. I would like to explore that topic with more empirical research and by getting involved in real-world situations so that that new business dynamics can be found for future research. I want to contribute to the business field through my Ph.D. as well as every other possible effort like training and teaching others.

2. Objectives of Personal & Professional Development Plan

`The main objectives of my MBA degree is to get more understanding of the business field. I know that to peruse my career in business, it is very important to have a good experience in the business field. I want to start my startup in business to support myself financially. After the MBA the main goal of doing the Ph.D. is to have more understanding of the subjects related to business. 

In the future as I want to teach in my field and for this purpose it is very important for me to do the Ph.D. in the business related subjects so I would have the change to explore and research in business.  In my long term objective, I would complete my Ph.D. with research work in my field of interest.

3. Skills of Personal & Professional Development Plan

 For pursuing my career in the business, it is very important for me to have good leadership and managerial skills to acquire this skill I would do the internship in companies to get knowledge about the corporate environment and how to control and manage the things at managerial level.  As in the long run, I am willing to be a teacher and trainer, and for this purpose, I am started teaching in the local school to get more experience and polish my skills. I was also thinking of doing the courses about leadership and management via online tutorial, that in the long term will help to have more effective leadership skills by the time.

4. Timing For the long term goals.

For the long term goals, it is very important to cash the time and put deadlines to the plans so that all of the objectives would finish on time.  If the deadlines put with the plans for long terms goals, there would be fewer chances of procrastination to take required actions. After completing my MBA degree in two years, I will take one year to practices all of my learning during my MBA work. During this one year, I will do an internship in a related business field and also do part-time training for the business students.  

After getting the experience in the related field, in the fourth year in would start the Ph.D. that would approximately require me to invest 3+ years. During the Ph.D., I would also start doing teaching and training job, so that I will not loss my focus on my interest, and it also helps to further polish my skills and explore my true potentials.

5. Measurements about the accomplishments of the objectives

        When it comes to the long-term goals, it is very important to do measurement about the accomplishments of the objectives. Throughout the accomplishment of my goals, I would also make sure to practice all of the skills that I have learned from an MBA or Ph.D. So the practical work in the form of job or training that I would do would be the key measurements indicators of the objectives that I have to accomplishment during this period.

 During my job in the schools and business corporations, I will get feedback from the management and authorities, to know about my performance in the jobs and how when I am effectively accomplishing my duties in these jobs. The analysis of my accomplishments during my school job and internship would also act as the tool of measurements for me.
