Introduction of
Social media policy report assignment
“To educate persuade director to
adopt policy on CMU, student use of social media/ social networking.”
Use of social media within campus
premises can be problematic. Students use internet for educational purpose as
well as for personal use. The availability of laptops, smartphones means
students have access to internet. Having access to smart phone means easy
access to social media. Social media improves communication, easy sharing of
pictures and information so when one has easy access to internet he can misuse
the technology and violate someone’s privacy by leaking their pictures, or
confidential information, location can be tracked, anonymous conversation can
be initiated causing big troubles.
So I propose that use of social
media such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or any other social media platform
should be banned within campus in order to respect people’s privacy and pay
respect to educational institute like CMU. If internet is used it should be
limited to academics and research purposes and campus should not promote use of
social media in any way within institute. This will keep students more focused
in studies and less connected to delusional world which really does not exist
beyond mobile or laptop screens. [1]
I will convince my fellows and my
friends to limit the use of social media and save themselves from posting
unnecessary things on internet and stay more focused on their studies and
research if they are serious about their careers.
The purpose of this proposal is to
direct the attention of director towards unnecessary use of social media in
institute and how it is violating privacy, forming unanimous and unnecessary
contacts causing stress and depression in students.
Body of Social media policy report assignment
Social media is a platform where people connect to know each
other and make new friends. Social media was created to improve psychosocial
well-being and improve social skills. But when technology is used in wrong way
it should be stopped. Students use social media for surfing internet, waste
time, watch videos, comment unnecessarily, and share their interests with each
other. These activities within campus can lead to lower focus towards studies
and it can affect social and mental health of an individual due to
procrastination, wasting time using social media one he should be studying, and
elevates measures of loneliness, anxiety, stress, depression and will result in
lower self-esteem and self-confidence. [2]
Some proposed solutions are stated:
·
Installation of CCTV, so if someone is caught
recording and posting stuff which goes on in campus should be strictly
punished.
·
If someone does something to and then uses
social media to violate person’s privacy should be punished for interfering in
someone’s privacy.
·
Internet access should be limited within classes
and all students should be allowed to use department’s Wi-Fi for academic
research and purposes.
·
Arranging workshop and seminar on ill use of
social media so people can understand the bitter truth and focus on their
studies more than they do on social media.
STEP I
A seminar on “negative effects of social media” should be
arranged.
STEP II
As director is the main person of an institution, he will be
the speaker who will educate his students about the negative impacts of social
media.
STEP III
Acknowledgement from students will
be taken in order to restrict the use of social media within campus; if anyone
is caught violating the rule should be punished by the authority.
Conclusion on Social media policy report assignment
Social media is a source of distraction and relaxation which
has nothing to do in your educational or professional life so the unnecessary
use of it should be avoided. Main focus should academics when one is in the
institution. A clear line between social, personal and professional life should
be drawn to understand the importance of each. Too much use of something is
harmful. Unnecessary use of social media is harmful, ethically wrong and
unacceptable on many grounds if one is inside an educational institute. [3]
