Introduction of Kettering Cancer Center

            Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center is one of the largest as well as oldest private centers for cancer care in the world. The center has worked for 130 years to provide great healthcare services, great educational programs, innovative research, and patient care. The center is striving to play its part in cancer care as well as research to come up with better healthcare innovations and facilities for cancer patients (MSKCC, 2019). This brief paper is going to find opportunities and propose a capital budget for MSKCC.

Opportunities of develop a cancer center

            It is a fact that MSK is operating across United States in different locations and they are serving patients all around the country. Moreover, they are also expanding their reach to more locations as well. The patients can find their cancer care centers in areas such as New York, Westchester, New Jersey, and Long Island (mskcc.org, 2019). The biggest opportunity as being the largest and oldest cancer center in the world is that they should now develop a cancer center outside United States, especially, a funded project in any of the developing countries as people from such countries are not able to get cancer treatment as well as awareness. In bigger picture of global healthcare, MSK role is crucial in advancing outside U.S borders to help the needy ones. The other opportunity is to open a Cancer Institute outside United States, serving people from other parts of the world.

Proposal of Kettering Cancer Center

            It is proposed that MSK should make investment in any African location to serve people of Africa, as their healthcare facilities are very poor. They must seek funding from donors across the world along with investment from investors to take part in this noble cause. The center should provide healthcare facility on 50-50 basis, which means that 50% patients should be treated free, and other 50% should be charged for cancer treatment. They must ask their funding and budgeting team to make evaluation and propose a capital budget for this plan, so that further progress can be made accordingly.
